Chapter 6 I Can Introduce You To Her Right Now

  • The next morning, Christopher had just gotten up when he saw a plentiful breakfast on the dining table.
  • There were pancakes, milk, waffles, soup, ham, and many more.
  • “Darling, you're up. Eat up. I've already eaten, so I'll head to class now.” Helena exited the kitchen just then, holding a plate of eggs in her hands.
  • That was the first time a woman had spent so much effort to take care of Christopher. He was happy even though he was also a little suspicious.
  • He gobbled up the pancake and said, “All right, I'm full. Let me take you to the university.”
  • Oh, right! How are we heading over? Are we taking the bus or the subway?
  • Helena was dumbstruck.
  • Seriously? I can't get you to stay even with all this food?
  • “Darling, there's really no need for that. Besides, I have a car, and my secretary has already parked it on the ground floor.”
  • Christopher was surprised by yet another bombshell.
  • “You have a car? And a secretary?”
  • Helena grinned and pointed out, “I am a business owner, after all, so it's only natural that I have a car and a secretary. I'll be on my way then.”
  • Christopher acted as though he couldn't hear her and walked down the stairs with her.
  • As he did so, he saw an extremely ordinary car that Helena had her secretary drive over.
  • Her secretary was wearing an all-black formal outfit and was standing in front of the car. She was polite to Helena.
  • The secretary was Marina Montague and was about one meter seven tall. She was beautiful. From a distance, she looked like a professional model.
  • Her long legs in black lace stockings especially were fatal to men.
  • This woman... She's Helena's secretary? The car may be ordinary, but this woman certainly isn't.
  • Helena could tell that she couldn't get rid of Christopher, so she signaled Marina with her eyes. Everyone got in the car after that.
  • Half an hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of Tayhaven University.
  • As Marina bade Helena goodbye, she drove the car to the parking lot. Christopher shot another look at the car.
  • Getting a brainstorm, Helena asked sweetly, “Darling, my secretary is pretty awesome, isn't she?”
  • “Yeah, she is.”
  • “I can introduce you to her three months later if you like. Hmm... Or maybe I can introduce you to her right now. She's in the parking lot outside the university now. You can go talk to her.”
  • Christopher thought about the secretary's long legs and his heart skipped a beat.
  • “Yeah, I guess I can do that... Wait, what? What are you talking about?”
  • Christopher felt a little embarrassed when he finally came to his senses.
  • Helena, however, giggled. She didn't mind at all.
  • “It's like I said. We can stay married if we get along well in the next three months. But if we find out we're not right for each other, we'll just get a divorce and be friends instead. Marina is pretty amazing. I'm sure you'll fall for her once you get to know her.”
  • Christopher had never felt that troubled before.
  • He had met hundreds, if not thousands, of women, but none were as frustrating and as wild as Helena.
  • What kind of woman would be their man's wing-woman? I honestly don't understand her at all.
  • At that moment, a red Ferrari sped over and screeched to a halt in front of Helena.
  • Christopher frowned. He inched over and stood forward to shield Helena behind him.
  • When the door opened, a young man dressed in branded clothing hopped out of the car.
  • He had ninety-nine red roses with him and was smiling cheerfully.
  • And his eyes were locked on Helena as soon as he saw her there.
  • “These are for you, Helena. May you be as beautiful as these blooming roses every day.”
  • Ugh...
  • Christopher cringed at the young man's words, and he felt goosebumps rise all over him.
  • Helena, on the other hand, clenched her fists a little before loosening up.
  • The young man in front of her was the rich playboy, Ulric Tanner, who Cayden had talked about earlier.
  • Ulric was rather notorious for being a charming playboy at Tayhaven University.
  • Once, he had spent over a million in one night just to court a girl.
  • However, he had broken up with her the very next morning.
  • Anyone who knew him knew that his go-to method for courting women was to spend his money on them.
  • As far as he was concerned, women were all money-minded, and he could court anyone with money.
  • He had always gotten the woman he wanted. The only ones he failed to court were the two murdered victims and Helena.
  • Christopher thought that Helena would turn around and leave immediately.
  • But to his surprise, Helena accepted the flowers and replied calmly, “Thank you.”
  • Christopher was stunned.
  • A tiny wave caused a tiny ripple in his heart.
  • I-Is my wife jealous because I checked out the hot and sexy secretary earlier?
  • Given her personality, she would not have accepted the flowers. Did she do that just to get under my skin?
  • Ulric grinned in delight when Helena accepted his flowers.
  • He was, however, upset about how Christopher was standing there.
  • “Helena, who is this?”
  • Helena answered evenly, “This is Christopher Lawson, my husband.”
  • Ulric's jaw dropped after he heard those words.
  • “I've told you that I'm married. My husband has just returned from overseas, and he is more open-minded, so he doesn't mind even if I accept your flowers. Isn't that right, Darling?”
  • Christopher's lips twitched a little. He had no choice but to nod.
  • Ulric looked surprised. “Oh, I see. Hello, Mr. Lawson. It's nice to meet you.”
  • Leaning closer, Ulric lowered his voice and said, “I don't care who you are. But stay away from Helena! You didn't even budge when other men gifted your wife flowers. Do you honestly think that you are worthy of Helena? Also, she accepted my flowers. I'm sure you know what that means.”
  • Christopher smiled indifferently and reached out to hold Ulric's hand in a firm grip.
  • Ulric suppressed the pain and didn't yelp because it would be embarrassing.
  • “Likewise, I don't care who you are. Just stay away from me and my wife. Don't force me to make a scene because I can't guarantee that you won't wet your pants,” Christopher threatened before letting go of his hand.
  • Noticing Christopher's mannerisms, Helena was certain that the man would get in the way of her investigation and that prompted her to smile at Ulric.
  • “Ulric, didn't you say that you wanted to treat me to a meal? I'll give you a shot and have dinner with you tonight. Also, my husband won't be there tonight.”
  • Both men were stunned in place and were a little lost.
  • This woman... Isn't she overreacting a little?
  • Christopher thought that the woman was acting a little over the top when all he did was look at her secretary.
  • Ulric, on the other hand, thought that the so-called husband, Christopher, was just someone Helena used to discourage the countless men courting her.
  • What she's doing now proves that she's at least a little interested in me!
  • “Okay, I'll come to pick you up before dinner.” Ulric tossed a meaningful look at Christopher and gave a smug smile. “Looks like Helena prefers to spend her time with me, Mr. Lawson.” He laughed arrogantly before he got into his Ferrari and drove away from the university.
