Chapter 15 Only Targets The Weak

  • The next morning, after an entire night of waiting, Helena did not receive any calls from the police.
  • That further confirmed her hypothesis.
  • That playboy is somehow involved in the death of my two special forces agents! I have to verify Samantha's words as well. She might've made a mistake yesterday, but she did see that mysterious man.
  • Helena was deep in thoughts when Marina had stopped the car at Tayhaven University.
  • As Christopher had made a bet with Helena, he tagged along once more.
  • He believed that he would have the opportunity to learn about her true identity if he stayed close to her.
  • Upon arriving at the entrance of the classroom, they saw a crowd.
  • The crowd was separated into two groups. They were standing on each side of the door as though they were its guardians, interrogating every student who entered the classroom.
  • It wasn't until they saw Helena did they shift their attention to her.
  • “Are you Helena York?” the two leaders asked at the same time.
  • Helena remained unmoved. “I am. What's up?”
  • The two leaders got into action after hearing her response. They led their men and had both Helena and Christopher surrounded. “Come with us.”
  • “And if I don't?” Helena asked flatly.
  • “You don't get to choose.”
  • With that, the two leaders reached out to block Helena's path.
  • But a powerful force came over right then and flung both hands away.
  • The crowd was taken aback.
  • Christopher took a step forward and shielded Helena behind him.
  • “Are you guys trying to kidnap a woman in broad daylight? This is not a lawless and barbaric nation, you know?”
  • Infuriated, the two leaders bellowed, “Who the hell are you? How dare you poke your nose into my business?”
  • “Helena is my wife,” Christopher said with a nonchalant smile. “So tell me, do you think I should poke my nose into this matter?”
  • Christopher didn't want to waste his breaths. He wanted to knock these people to the ground.
  • But Helena tugged at him and shot a look at the surveillance camera in the corridor.
  • Christopher caught her message right away. He waved his hand and taunted, “Do you boys have the guts to come with me?”
  • The two leaders chuckled in amusement.
  • “Where did this shameless punk come from?”
  • “He wants to play? Well, let's play with him. Hey, you, and you. Go up and have a nice chat with him.”
  • Christopher snorted out loud when he saw how the men were trying to mess with him.
  • “Why are you lot all dressed up? Are you shooting a movie here? Also, one at a time? Just attack me all at once, will you? It's late and class is about to begin. I will not forgive you if you disrupt my wife's class.”
  • The leaders' faces were distorted with rage.
  • One of them ordered, “Let's go and make it so that he won't be able to get out of his bed for the next two weeks. You two, stay here and keep an eye on the woman.”
  • With that, over ten men followed Christopher to a secluded spot right around the emergency exit.
  • There were no surveillance cameras there, and students never used that path.
  • The gang grinned menacingly as they surrounded Christopher.
  • Christopher was not interested in dealing with those bullies, so he didn't waste his time. He went all out from the very beginning.
  • A few minutes later, Christopher swept the dust off his shirt and adjusted his clothes as he left the secluded corner.
  • “It's not even enough for a warm-up. Jeez, you people are weak.”
  • When he got back to Helena's side, he saw that the two men who were ordered to keep an eye on Helena were stunned.
  • Their jaws dropped when they saw Christopher standing there without a scratch.
  • “What are you looking at? Go to your friends and take them to the hospital already. Seriously, it's so hot out here. I can't believe you people are all dressed up.”
  • The two of them stared at Christopher fearfully. He didn't actually defeat all the others on his own, did he?
  • They rushed to the secluded corner right away and what they saw shook them to their core.
  • Helena had already entered her classroom by then. She lowered her voice and asked, “You didn't go overboard, did you?”
  • Christopher chuckled and replied, “Don't worry. I wasn't nearly as fierce as I was last night.”
  • Seeing that Helena was fine, the other students entered the classroom as well. They were impressed with Helena.
  • They had already heard about how she defended Samantha the day before, so many thought that she was a pretty awesome person.
  • After the morning class, a plump guy made his way over clumsily and his expression was a little off.
  • “Helena, you should run away quickly.”
  • Helena knew the guy, so she asked, “What's wrong, Wilber?”
  • Wilber looked at the door before answering, “Those men from before, I think Linda hired them. You really need to be careful.”
  • Christopher rolled his eyes at Wilber. Seriously? Isn't your warning a little late? I've already got rid of them, and two classes have passed before you show up. Your news is so... timely.
  • Helena smiled and replied, “It's fine. She can't hurt me.”
  • To her surprise, Wilber put on a straight face and informed, “No, you don't understand. Those men were actually trying to get you to meet Linda's father. He's been waiting outside the gate! You should hurry home, lest he catch you.”
  • Christopher couldn't stand listening for much longer. He piped up, “How did you know that Linda's father is the one who sent them?”
  • “You're Mr. Lawson, right?” Wilber recognized Christopher. “Linda's father is a prominent businessman in the city. He is so powerful that even the richest man in the city, Thomas Durdane, respects him. The two of you offended his daughter, so you're definitely in trouble.”
  • Christopher remained unmoved. “Since you rushed over, I suppose you have a solution to the problem?”
  • Wilber chuckled. “My father is pretty powerful, too. If Helena doesn't mind, I'll definitely lend a hand.”
  • This fatso isn't interested in Helena too, is he?
  • I guess it makes sense. There's hardly any woman in this field, so the men make up the majority of the class.
  • A beauty like Helena is bound to be a target in a place like this.
  • Still...
  • Damn, this fatso's smile is so ugly.
  • Christopher was about to reject his offer when Helena suddenly smiled and replied, “Sure, please help if it is within your power to do so. Oh, by the way, I accidentally stepped on Ulric's foot, too. Can you help me with that as well?”
  • “Ulric? As in Ulric Tanner? Isn't he courting you? How did you end up pissing him off?”
  • Wilber was surprised. It was obvious that he didn't expect Helena to make a request like that. Wait, Ulric skips classes frequently, but he never crossed the line by not showing up at all!
  • “He's not here today. D-Did you really get on his nerve?”
  • Helena replied, “I heard that you are the know-it-all of our class. I'm sure you can help me out, right?”
  • After battling with his conscience for quite some time, Wilber turned around and left.
  • But before he left, he said, “You're on your own, Helena.”
  • Christopher couldn't help scoffing, “I guess that fatso only targets the weak, huh?”
  • Helena held her tongue. They went to the parking lot together after that.
  • And as soon as they arrived, they saw that over ten men had surrounded Marina's car.
