Chapter 3 When Will We Have A Baby

  • Christopher couldn't help but grin to himself after hearing what she said.
  • Any ordinary man would love her to death if they were married to a fine woman like her! Offering to pay for all my expenses and buy me a house under my name? Allowing me to indulge myself with other women under the excuse of handling my existing relationships? She has got to be the best wife of the century! Is she an angel sent from the heavens above or what?
  • “Man, I didn't know you're such a great woman! However, I couldn't care less about the stuff you mentioned earlier. I have only one question for you, Helena. When can we have a baby?” he asked with a lecherous grin on his face.
  • He then stared gleefully at Helena, feeling confident that he had cornered her with a smart move.
  • She can pretend and act tough all she likes, but this is something every woman cares about deeply! She would never agree to have babies with me if she had approached me with ulterior motives!
  • To Christopher's surprise, Helena simply flashed him an embarrassed look as she nodded shyly in response.
  • “We can have babies anytime now that we're husband and wife.”
  • Christopher's eyes widen instantly.
  • What the hell? Does her boldness know no bounds? Hold on! I haven't exposed my identity, have I? Hmm... I only thought of looking for a wife at Matchmaking Park recently, so my identity should still be safe. In that case, why is this woman going so far to be with me?
  • With her face burning bright red, Helena continued, “Darling, I'm perfectly fine with having babies, but there's something I need to tell you... You see, I'm really sensitive when asleep, and I tend to instinctively attack anyone who touches me. I've consulted a doctor about this issue, and the doctor says it's a sign of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).”
  • Christopher immediately understood what she meant when he heard that.
  • So, she's still trying to protect her virginity in the end... Heh, as if someone with my medical knowledge wouldn't know what PTSD is!
  • Christopher was about to question her further but stopped himself when he saw the tears falling from Helena's eyes.
  • What the... Why is she crying all of a sudden?
  • He then quickly comforted her, and Helena spent the next half an hour telling him a tragic backstory like those in TV shows.
  • She told him all about her miserable childhood in great detail, and even explained how she had developed her PTSD.
  • If she's lying, then she certainly deserves an award for her acting skills! Well, whatever. I'll just leave her be as long as she doesn't harm me. Besides, I think I'm actually a little interested in her after seeing this many sides to her! Christopher thought to himself as he stared at her doubtfully. He then grabbed his stuff and prepared to mail the marriage certificate to his mentor.
  • “Where are you going, Darling?” Helena asked gently when she saw him about to leave the house.
  • “Um... My family still doesn't know that I'm married, so I'm going to inform them. Also, I need some time alone to cool off.”
  • “Is something bothering you?” Helena questioned worriedly.
  • “No, not at all! I'm just trying to process the fact that I'm married to a woman as great as you, that's all. I won't be long.”
  • “In that case, I'll go with you! We both need to mail our marriage certificates to our families, so we might as well head out together. Are you planning on going drinking at Nocturna? Is that your idea of cooling off?”
  • Christopher's eyes grew big in surprise.
  • “How did you know that?”
  • “I know a little something about men. They love to drink whenever they encounter a bothersome problem because it helps them relax and possibly come up with a solution. Nocturna is the most popular nightclub in Tayhaven. I'm a member there, so we can go in together. Besides, we just got married today, and this calls for a celebratory drink!” Helena said with a sly smile.
  • “Um... All right, then.”
  • Just like that, Christopher and his newly-wedded wife mailed their marriage certificates out before heading over to Nocturna.
  • The place was already crowded at about eight in the evening.
  • Helena brought Christopher over to a corner in the nightclub and started a tab.
  • One of the employees there greeted her passionately, and she handed him a card in response.
  • Christopher couldn't help but exclaim, “Looks like you really are a regular customer here!”
  • Helena replied with a smile, “I own a company, remember? It's only natural that I would have to socialize a lot, and most young people favor this nightclub.”
  • Christopher nodded. “All right, let us celebrate!”
  • The two of them then ordered a bottle of XO cognac and began drinking away happily.
  • Christopher was initially planning on getting Helena drunk so he could have some time alone to process things, but Helena surprised him yet again.
  • Even after ten glasses, she showed no signs of intoxication apart from her slightly flushed cheeks.
  • Oh my goodness! What the hell kind of woman have I married? She can hold her liquor better than most men out there!
  • Christopher was so exasperated that he didn't even know whether to laugh or cry at that point.
  • He was capable of killing enemy generals amid heavy gunfire on the battlefield, hiding in complete darkness for three days straight to carry out covert assassinations, and even donning all sorts of disguises in the city.
  • However, he found himself at a loss when faced with his newly-married wife.
  • At that moment, the employee who greeted Helena earlier came over and said, “Why are you keeping such a low profile tonight, Ms. York? It isn't your style to start a tab in a quiet little corner like this!”
  • Having gotten a little high from the booze, Helena wrapped her arm around Christopher's and said happily with a big smile, “See this man right here, Cay? He's my husband, Christopher Lawson! We've just gotten married today!”
  • The employee was a little surprised at first but quickly regained his composure and held his hand out. “Hello, Mr. Lawson. My name is Cayden Wilson, but you can just call me Cay. I'm the manager here at Nocturna. Congratulations on getting married!”
  • Christopher shook his hand and was about to say something when he noticed Cayden exchanging glances with Helena.
  • What's going on here? Is he seriously flirting with my wife in front of me? I know we've only gotten married today and all, but isn't this a little too bold of him?
  • Helena interrupted Christopher's thoughts by saying, “Darling, Cay and I have some business to discuss. You've had a lot to drink, so maybe you should go use the bathroom or something?”
  • Christopher froze for a moment but quickly caught on to what she meant.
  • Right, of course... If she allows me to flirt around with other women, then it's only fair that she gets to do the same with men.
  • “Sure, I'll make a trip to the bathroom, but will that be enough time for you to finish discussing business?”
  • “Of course! It's just a small business, after all! All right, off you go!” Helena replied with a smile.
  • However, that smile instantly faded the moment Christopher left, and Helena looked like a monster lurking in the shadows with that menacing gaze of hers.
  • Cayden too, lowered his volume as he said in a deep voice, “Commander York, we've found a clue regarding the two murders at Tayhaven University.”
