Chapter 24

• Nathan sat in his house sweating through his shirt, even with the air conditioning running. He wanted nothing to do with his couch since he stuck to the leather. He couldn’t stand to be upstairs in his office because the second floor was hotter than the first. He wanted to take the day off, and since it was Friday and everyone was probably as miserable as he was, he emailed giving everyone a paid day off. Hopefully, it would cool off at least a little by Monday.
• The only problem with that was he now had nothing to do to distract him from how hot it was. Even if he needed to do a few chores and run errands, he wouldn’t do it in the heat of the day. He could get in the pool, but the idea of getting up, changing into his swim trunks, and going outside into the heat, even for the reward of the cool water, was not inspiring. He also had nothing to keep him from thinking about and messaging Kelly.
