Chapter 21

• The clanging.
• Nathan was doing the dishes. And the rest of her apartment looked clean. She staggered to her feet and moved to the doorway to peer out. The tissues were all picked up, the trash can was empty, and the room was wiped down. She could tell because the surfaces looked oddly shiny.
• He noticed her as she stepped out of the bedroom and turned off the water before he wiped his hands on a paper towel. “How are you feeling?”
