Chapter 17

• Their first real date was off to an excellent start. Kelly was well fed, Nathan had recommended the spinach and ham quiche and it might be her new favorite thing. They had sat together, their hands occasionally brushing as they reached and talked, knees bumping under the table. Each touch is accompanied by a blush or shy duck of their heads for one or both.
• They left brunch, Kelly with an iced coffee in hand, her other hand held in his much larger one, while her purse (the only thing she had brought since he told her he would take care of everything) was carefully placed in the backpack over his shoulder. As they walked towards the elevated train, and while they rode to the zoo, they talked.
• They knew each other, but they didn’t know how the other moved and talked and shifted in person, so it was like getting to know each other all over again. Stumbling over each other’s sentences and pausing a bit too long. Feeling the space between them, the nearness, and the bump of learning each other’s speed and movements.
