Chapter 14

• A Week before Valentine’s Day
• *I want to send you something.*
• It wasn’t unusual that Nathan (she still smiled like crazy when she thought about being able to use his real name) wanted to send her something. He sent her gifts and food and money and anything he could think of until Kelly had nothing to spend her money on except her rent and tuition. He was even paying for her groceries now. She had quit her tutoring job; she didn’t need it anymore and could spend the time studying instead but kept the job at the coffee house. Just in case Nathan ever lost interest in her. She was scared to ask when he would have enough of her, so she resolved to take any affection he offered for as long as possible. She hoped she could keep him, but her history had taught her that people didn't stick around. So, she never objected to him sending her money or gifts anymore, and instead thanked him profusely and in more intimate ways.
