• Nicolai returned to Jasmine's room, his footsteps quiet on the floor. Jasmine was fast asleep, her chest rising and falling with each gentle breath. Nicolai's gaze lingered on her peaceful face, and a small smile crept onto his lips.
• He first took away the chair beside her bed, then he carefully slid into bed beside her, taking care not to disturb her. As he settled in, he reached out and gently took her hand in his. Jasmine's hand was warm and soft, and Nicolai felt a surge of tenderness towards her.
