• I didn’t leave right away after dropping Fiona off. Part of it was because I wanted to talk to her about Milicent, yeah, but if I was being honest with myself, the real reason was that if I left, I’d end up going straight back to Milicent.
• I’d hover around her like some obsessed stalker just to make sure she was okay. I’d see her face, and the way her lips would probably part in surprise, and then all the ugly memories I was trying hard to ignore would flow back in torrents.
