Chapter 16 Sixteen
- I stood outside the estate, the crisp evening air brushing against my skin, trying to calm the storm raging in my chest. I needed space, air, clarity—anything to stop my thoughts from spiraling. It was as though the universe was punishing for the sun's I committed because I could never seem to catch a break. Just then, my phone buzzed in my hand.
- For a moment, I stared at the screen, to scared that my eyes were playing tricks on me. I haven't seen my dad in ten months, right about the time mother discovered I was pregnant. The last time I spoke to him, he struggled to speak as a result of a heart attack . Of course, mother has been on about how I am responsible for fathers attack. I haven't heard from him since I came back. Mother won't even tell me where he was hospitalised.
