• Anna’s POV
• I struggled to open my eyes; the pain was unbearable. Realizing the extent of the bruises on my body, I recoiled. I felt nearly paralyzed, as if my body couldn’t move an inch. My breath was shallow, and my throat was dry from dehydration; even if I wanted to speak, I wasn’t sure I could.
• I tried to turn my eyes to survey the surroundings. My eyes were so swollen that my vision was blurred, but from what I could gather, I was still in the palace’s medical room.
