• Bella’s question shouldn’t have surprised Anna as much as it did, but it left her speechless. Half of her wanted to lie about Lucas and the other half wanted to spill out every detail that her mind had held in since the moment they first kissed. It was rotten to think bad of her friend—she knew she would keep all of her secrets. But she couldn’t help but hesitate.
• “We… got along fine on the trip. He was admittedly grumpy at times. but that was to be expected.” Anna nervously laughed and picked at her nails. Bella narrowed her gaze suspiciously and caught on to every small movement she made. Anna wanted to melt back into the couch and pretend she hadn’t said anything.
• “I didn’t ask that, I asked if he made a move on you.” Bella leaned closer as if she was trying to peer into Anna’s brain for the answer. Anna was only glad she couldn’t see all of the things Anna had been up to with the handsome prince.
