Chapter 3 Announcement

  • EVA
  • Another operation underlined itself in my presence, but this one seems more tedious than the first one but I know I will do it yet again.
  • I am a lone assassin,I've been trained to be so, and I embark on this operation alone with Dominik's voice only a companion.
  • The night of the shipment, I knew it would be critical. I prepared myself, steeling my nerves for the task ahead. This was more than just a mission, it was a chance to strike a significant blow against the Moretto empire and take one step closer to my ultimate goal.
  • As midnight approached, I slipped away from the servants quarters, sedating two guards who were positioned at the back entrance and headed for the docs.
  • I had memorized every detail in the Corsica document.
  • Dressed in tight black jeans that hugged my figure perfectly and a black T-shirt to match,my mask was a shield against my identity.
  • I made my way to the underground garage, where the shipment trucks were loaded. Dominik had discovered a way, giving me a narrow window to sabotage the vehicles.
  • Dominik’s voice came through my earpiece. “Eva, you’re clear. Plant the devices and get out.”
  • I located the trucks and quickly attached the small explosive devices to their undercarriages. With the preparations in place.
  • “Devices are set,” I whispered to Dominik.
  • “Now move over to the next, locate the enemy and eliminate”he barked out the orders.
  • I hid under a boat that obviously was abandoned as it was out of the water. My second kill was Mikel Charlo,a very powerful man who had the cover of the Almighty Moretto family.
  • I know it will be impossible to go close to him without raising an alarm,as I have gathered he will be in the same ship that held the product so it will be me killing two birds with a stone.
  • I tiptoed closer to the ship, thereby entering into the water and made my legendary mark, then slipped away.
  • The shipment was supposed to leave by midnight so I didn't go far,but I maintained a reasonable distance, the remote in my hand as I saw Mikel enter into the ship and ordered that it start moving.
  • I watched as the ship went into the middle of the sea and then…
  • “Now” Dominik ordered
  • A single press at the button on the remote got the whole ship splitting into small pieces.
  • “I never thought this would be this easy” I murmured, releasing a deep breath I didn't know I was holding.
  • “Get out of that place now before you get caught”
  • I successfully slipped back into the servants quarters immediately.
  • Tomorrow will be a great day, I can't wait to see the look on Antonio Moretto’s face.

  • The next morning, the manor buzzed with tension. Word had spread quickly about the disastrous explosion at the docks. As I went about my chores, I could feel the nervous energy among the staff. Whispers of speculation and fear filled the air, and I knew it wouldn't be long before Antonio Moretto reacted.
  • By mid-morning, Antonio summoned all the servants to the grand hall. His usual cold expression was replaced with a barely restrained fury. His face was etched with deep lines of anger and frustration, and his eyes were dark with rage. The room fell silent as he began to speak.
  • "We have suffered a great loss," Antonio began, his voice tight with controlled rage. "Last night, our shipment was sabotaged, and Mikel Charlo, a loyal ally, was killed."
  • A murmur of shock flew through the assembled staff. I kept my expression neutral, blending in with the worried faces around me.
  • The servants in the Moretto Manor were not kept in the dark about the family's operation, the oath of secrecy was a bind that they trusted nobody would break.
  • Antonio continued, his gaze sweeping over us like a hawk searching for prey. "This act of treachery will not go unpunished. We will find those responsible and make them pay dearly. But there is another matter to address."
  • His tone shifted slightly, still grim but now with a hint of something else perhaps anticipation. "My son, who has been away for some time, will be returning to the manor. He will be assisting us in dealing with this situation. His return marks a new chapter in our operations."
  • The announcement took everyone by surprise. Antonio's son had been a mysterious figure, rumored to be as ruthless and cunning as his father, if not more so. His return was a clear sign that the Moretto family was ready to escalate their response.
  • "Prepare yourselves," Antonio warned. "Things will change around here. We must be vigilant and loyal. Any sign of betrayal will be met with the harshest punishment."
  • With that, he dismissed us. The room emptied quickly, everyone eager to avoid Antonio's wrath. As I returned to my duties, I felt a mix of excitement and caution. The return of Antonio's son could complicate my mission, but it also presented new opportunities.
  • Dominik's voice crackled in my earpiece as I moved through the manor. "Eva, did you hear that? Antonio's son is returning."
  • "I heard," I replied softly. "This could be a game-changer."
  • "Stay sharp," Dominik advised. "His son will be more suspicious and dangerous. We need to gather more intel on him."
  • "Understood," I said, my mind already racing with plans. The mission was growing more complex, but I was ready for the challenge. The Moretto family's foundation was starting to crack, and I would be there to shatter it completely.
  • ***
  • For some obscene reasons we have been ordered to clean everywhere in the house thoroughly, not once but twice.
  • I had my own suspicions for this act but I refused to believe it.
  • Suddenly a loud noise came from the door indicating that someone was outside the door, since it was automatic it flew open revealing three men at the door.
  • As if in cue , the chief maid voiced out from the stairs.
  • “Announcing Signore Moretto ”
