Chapter 5

  • Claire's maid immediately rushed out while Flora remain stood at her place. She couldn’t see William worrying about the woman he claimed to hate the most. She pursed her lips as she said in grievance, “ William! How can you care about her? Don't tell me you think I was bullying her. Even if I was, isn't it why you brought her here? To be tortured and played? Then why do you care if she is bleeding? I wish she rather bleed to death! ”
  • “ MOVE OUT! Didn't you hear what I said just now? I want everybody OUT.” William yelled so loud that Flora's whole body stiffened at her place. However, she was too stubborn to walk out. She remain stood on her place. William clenched his fists in anger. He didn’t want to waste any other word on her. So, he picked Claire in his arms and started walking out of the room.
  • Flora couldn't see him ignoring her because of Claire. So, she yelled from behind, using her last weapon, “ William Walton! Do not forget why you hate this woman. She is the reason you lost your lover. Can you imagine how she would feel if she sees you caring about this woman who separated you from her? ”
  • William closed his eyes to restrain his anger as he walked away with long paces and took Claire to his master bedroom. He brought a first-aid kit and started cleaning her wounds. She bit her lips to suppress the moan. The slight movement of her lips couldn't go hidden from William's sharp eyes. He then looked into her eyes as he said in a voice mixed with complicated emotions, “ Don't worry. It will hurt only for a while.”
  • Claire nod her head. She dare not say anything. She only looked into his eyes and found a unique gentleness and worryness for her for the first time in these two years. Her throat became sour as she had never seen him caring about her. Meanwhile, he finished dressing her wounds as he stood up from the bed, saying, “ You can rest here for a while. After that you can go back to your room. ”
  • She felt a warm and tender feeling. However, it didn’t last too long as William snorted before adding, “ If you like pearl necklace so much, just tell me. I'll give them to you as much as you want. Don't go around snatching others'.”
  • Her mouth opened and closed. No words came out of her mouth. She only felt wronged and betrayed. He dressed her wounds and caressed her but he didn’t believe her. He still chose to believe the other woman than her. But, like always, she had never intended to explain herself. She only lowered her head, suppressing her tears and the feeling of being wronged just as she had been doing for years.
  • William then walked out of his room as he entered his study room only to fall on his chair. He clenched the files lying on his study table and threw them aside as Flora's words kept moving in his head.
  • ‘ William Walton! Do not forget why you hate this woman. She is the reason you lost your lover. Can you imagine how she would feel if she sees you caring about this woman who separated you from her? ’
  • How could he forget that day? It was the darkest day of his life and that darkness was caused by none other than Claire Evans.

  • “ Grandpa! I want you to see her. I'm sure you will like her. ” William said excitedly.
  • “ I have never heard you talking about a girl before. Since you want me to see a girl this time I'm sure you are serious about her. Anyway, what's the name of the girl? ” Old master Walton asked gladly.
  • “ Her name is Mia Knight! You have seen her when you brought me from Knight Mansion, ” William replied.
  • Old Master Walton's eyebrows twitched after listening to her name as he muttered, “ So, she is Christ Knight's daughter.”
  • “ Is there anything wrong with it?” William raised his eyebrows. Old master laughed as he added, “ Nothing! Since you have chosen this woman I'm pretty sure she must be an extra ordinary girl.”
  • “ Yes, she is! ” William blushed before muttering, “ It’s already dusk! Why hasn't she arrived yet? I have sent Robin to pick her from the airport. I'll give him a call.”
  • After saying these words, he picked his phone but before he could call Robin, he received a call from him instead.
  • “ Robin! Why haven't you- ”
  • “ Boss! Mia Knight met an accident and she... she died on spot.”
  • William's world turned upside down. Just when he was thinking to start a new life with Mia Knight, she died. He simply couldn't accept it. He used all his connection and money to find out the truth behind her death. However, he didn’t expect that knowing the truth was going to hurt him more than not knowing it.
  • “ Boss! We have discovered something. The driver of the truck who hit Miss Mia's car was hired by someone. It means Miss Mia's death was not an accident but a murder. ”
  • William clenched his fists tightly as he groaned in anger, “ Who hired the driver? Tell me who is behind Mia's death? ”
  • “ It's… it's Claire Evans! ” Robin reported.
  • “ Claire, ah, Claire Evans... I had almost forgotten about you! ” he muttered angrily, “ You have to pay for this. You killed the love of my life. Now, you have to pay for your sins. I'll make your life worst than the hell. ”

  • He turned his study room upside down out of anger. How could he possibly be gentle on Claire Evans? How can he go easy on her when she gave him the biggest sorrow of his life?
  • Flora was right. Even if she bleeds to death, why should he care about her? Why must
  • he feel pain seeing her in a miserable condition?
