• Adeline's eyes locked onto Zarek's; they widened in a mixture of fear and shock. Sebastian, still holding her close, followed her gaze, and his eyes mirrored hers, filled with a similar shock and horror.
• Zarek's face twisted into a snarl as he strode towards Adeline, his long strides eating up the distance. "What the fuck are you doing here, Adeline?" he spat, his voice venomous. "Didn't I tell you to stay home?"
• But before Adeline could respond, her eyes rolled back, and she slumped forward, her body going limp. Zarek's eyes flashed with anger, but he quickly recovered, catching Adeline in his arms.
