  • The next day, Adeline heard the murmurs of the protest planned against the factory, but she felt a pang of hesitation. She had promised Adam that she would help him stop people like Zarek, who seemed determined to harm Ashwood. After meeting Adam and witnessing his unwavering passion for the town, Adeline's heart had begun to change. She was no longer the same person who had blindly supported Zarek's ambitions.
  • As she stepped down from the stairs, Zarek looked up from the dining table, his eyes locking onto hers. Adeline silently took a seat in the chair, her eyes avoiding his. The tension between them was palpable.
  • "Why don't the townspeople want to listen?" Adeline asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Why don't you just stop this project?"
