Chapter 8 Forcing Danny To Marry Rebecca
- "I got some gifts for your mom," Rebecca said as Danny picked her up from the salon and she showed him some shopping bags. "I came from Europe last week. These are clothes, cakes, and bags. I bought these especially for your mom."
- "Thanks, honey," Danny happily accepted the gifts. "But why don't you deliver these directly to my mom?"
- "I can't," Rebecca replied with a hint of regret. "You know I'm still tired after a long trip, and at your mom's place, I can't sit back and relax. Your house is small and uncomfortable."
- Hearing Rebecca's explanation, Danny could only smile bitterly. "What can I do," he said. "My mom's house is an old house. So, a lot of things are old."
- Rebecca casually said, "You buy me a new one, so I'll be comfortable."
- "I can't do that, just replace everything," Danny replied, looking unenthused. At the very least, it would cost him a considerable amount of money to fulfill Rebecca's wish.
- "If it's just a matter of money, you don't have to worry." Suddenly, Rebecca sent a sum of money to Danny's account.
- "Honey, this is..." Danny was shocked.
- "I'll ask papa for a promotion soon," Rebecca offered the very thing Danny had been waiting for.
- "Is this for real, honey?" Danny asked.
- Rebecca was serious, her eyes looking at Danny with certainty. "It's true. I wouldn't go back on my word."
- Danny smiled without saying anything.
- "Well, hurry up and start the car, I still have dinner with my friends," Rebecca ordered, as if Danny was her driver. "I don't want to be late."
- "Okay, fine." Danny just accepted being treated like this. He started the engine, and the two of them were on their way.
- After dropping Rebecca off, Danny headed straight to his mother's house.
- "Danny?" Megan looked quite surprised to see Danny coming to her house at such an unusual time. "It's not like you to be at mom's house this late in the afternoon."
- Danny sighed softly, looking tired. "Becca dropped off some gifts for you." He gave Megan everything Rebecca had left.
- "Wow, where is your girlfriend from?" Megan asked, her eyes sparkling when she saw what the gifts contained.
- "Last week she was on vacation in Europe, Mom," Danny answered as he sat on the living room sofa.
- "Wow, that sounds amazing." Megan looked envious, her voice filled with admiration. "Your girlfriend is the daughter of the boss where you work. She has a lot of money, so she can travel whenever she wants."
- "Well, she's also the Chairman's daughter, Mom." Danny was a little proud of his girlfriend. "For Becca to go to several countries in Europe, it only costs a small amount of money."
- Megan was even more eager to make Rebecca her daughter-in-law.
- "Oh, how wonderful!" Megan suddenly had an idea. "You have no intention of marrying her soon?"
- "Not yet. I got divorced from Naomi only a month ago. What will people say if I rush to marry Becca?"
- "What do you think people will say?" Megan was annoyed that her son was too hesitant. "Becca is already beautiful and rich. She seems to like you so much that she doesn't care about your status. You can see that Rebecca is crazy about you."
- Danny was silent, remembering that their relationship happened because Rebecca approached him first.
- "You should marry her soon. Before she meets another man and changes her mind!" Megan encouraged her son.
- "Isn't it too soon?" Danny doubted his mother's advice.
- "Huh!" Megan was annoyed with her son. "You're a man, you're free to remarry whenever you want."
- "What the hell are you forcing Danny to do?" Mia, Danny's sister, intervened when she happened to be in the living room.
- "Shut up, Mia!" Full of authority, Megan warned her youngest child. "You don't understand anything. I just want what's best for your brother!"
- "Who knows, Danny might want to get back together with Naomi." Mia spoke out of turn.
- "What?" Megan was surprised by what Mia said. "Don't talk out of turn, Mia. I wouldn't want a stubborn daughter-in-law like that back!"
- Mia looked at Megan and Danny with disappointment. "You and Danny keep insulting Naomi. Don't you remember what Naomi has sacrificed for us?"
- Danny didn't dare to say much this time.
- "When you were sick, Naomi came here and took care of you. Danny was still unemployed, and she helped him earn money." Mia reminded her mother and brother about Naomi, disappointment in her voice. "Naomi is really nice, how could you guys be so heartless to her?”
- Danny pondered, thinking hard about what his sister had just said.
- "You said she was good because you were close to her. After all, you used to be on campus a lot. How do you know what Naomi's days are like?" Megan replied, her voice filled with annoyance, emphasizing that Mia probably didn't know everything about Naomi.
- "So, why did you push Danny to marry that rich woman so quickly?" Mia asked, her voice filled with regret and confusion.
- "Because I thought about your brother's happiness, Mia!" Megan asserted. She was sure that as a mother, she had done what was best for her son.
- "Are you sure you think what's best for Danny?" Mia made her mother think twice about her intentions.
- Megan was starting to get annoyed with what Mia had just said.
- "Mia, you don't deserve to talk to Mom like that!" Danny stepped up to his sister.
- "Listen to me. Are you sure you want to marry the boss's daughter?" Mia asked again, so that her opinion could be heard.
- "What do you mean, asking questions like that!" Danny was angry that Mia was interfering too much.
- "Whether you realize it or not, you and she are too far apart. You're not equals." Mia explained about who they were and who Rebecca was.
- "Mia, your brother is not as rich as Rebecca." Megan was confident enough to defend Danny. "But, you see how your brother is. He's handsome, smart, and nice. It's only natural that Rebecca likes him."
- Danny was glad his mom came to his defense.
- "Don't you and Danny realize or pretend not to realize that Rebecca is just using Danny as her errand boy?" Mia was annoyed.
- "She tells him to pick her up, drive her here and there. In fact, she's friendly to you, Mom." Mia added about what Danny had received after being with Rebecca.
- "I never see her going to the kitchen or at least sitting in the house. Nothing, Mom." Mia tried to open her mother and brother's eyes. "She seems disgusted with our house."
- "I think that's normal because she's rich. It's normal that she's still not used to our life," the hard-hearted Megan continued to justify Rebecca's attitude. "When they get married, I'm sure Rebecca can blend in!"
- "Just don't instigate Danny, Mia!" An exasperated Megan reminded her daughter. "I'm still in favor of Danny marrying Rebecca, period!”
