Chapter 423 No Secrets

  • After Rick mentioned Fiona's name, everyone in the crowd—with the exception of Denise, Alex, and Noah—widened their eyes to show looks of utter shock on their faces. They then shifted their attention to the woman who had been acting all pitiful just moments ago. Fiona felt as if her heart had sunk into the pit of her stomach at that moment. Her face crumbled as well. This was a scar that Fiona had tried to conceal for tens of years, and she couldn't believe how she was being brutally exposed in front of the crowd right then.
  • I was so close to happiness. Fiona was silent for a while as she reminisced about her past memories. Back then, after Fiona's mother left her, she became an orphan with no one to care for her. The police ended up sending her to an orphanage in town. There were a bunch of other kids there, and Fiona assumed that she would make a lot of new friends. She didn't feel too sad to leave a household as broken as hers. However, after the rest of the kids heard of her history, none of them wanted to mingle with her, even though all of them were kids who had been abandoned by their parents. There were even a few kids who talked bad about her behind her back and a few who bullied her in front of everyone.
  • Fiona could still recall a distinct memory from her orphanage days. Once, she had just returned to her seat in class when she opened her pencil box to find a fat caterpillar lying inside. "Ah!" Fiona let out a scream of fear when she saw the bug. However, they were midway through class back then, so a lot of the other students shot her glances of disapproval and confusion. Some even jeered at her. Not a single one of the students was kind to her.
