Chapter 11 Photographic Memory

  • As Denise had a very good memory—almost a photographic one—she organized all the documents accordingly after briefly skimming them and figuring out which data she needed to enter into the system. Then, she finally began her work.
  • Though it was tedious, it was not difficult for her, so she got the hang of it rather quickly and began to speed up.
  • The sound of her fast typing soon attracted the attention of the other employees and caused a small stir.
  • "Look at how fast she's typing. I thought I was already fast, but I can't win against her."
  • "I thought that since she came from the countryside, she might not know anything. Turns out she's quite diligent when doing things."
  • "You're right. Didn't you notice that she was also very efficient when working this morning? It seems like although she's from the countryside, she isn't useless. Otherwise, she wouldn't become Mr. Harmon's fiancé. Also, I heard that this was all arranged by Old Mr. Harmon. He wouldn't be so blind, right?"
  • "So what if she's Mr. Harmon's fiancé? Didn't you notice that Mr. Harmon doesn't even pay any attention to her? She'll have to leave here someday, and now she has even provoked the head of the secretary department. Miss Summers gave her such laborious work today and I'm sure her days won't be any easier. Let's see how long she can stand it here."
  • "Oh, boy. We should stop worrying because we can't worry about this. It won't be good if we suddenly implicate ourselves.
  • "..."
  • As their conversation flowed into Denise's ears, she ignored them and focused on finishing her work.
  • She was not hard on herself either as she would take a few bites of the snack she brought with her, drink some tea when she felt thirsty, and take a bathroom break when she felt tired.
  • When it was time to get off work, there were still many who had not left because there was a lot to do today. She went to have dinner before leisurely returning to finish her work.
  • Her principle was that she could suffer any difficulties except for starving herself, and she had to eat at a specific time.
  • Meanwhile, Selina slammed her hand on the desk when she saw Denise return. "Denise! Why are you running around when you haven't finished your work? I told you that these must be compiled today because the data needs to be used tomorrow, but what are you doing? You're eating, drinking, and walking around. What kind of attitude is that? If you don't want to do this, just say so, and I'll arrange for someone else to do it. Would you be able to bear the consequences if the company suffers a loss because of your delay?"
  • While listening to her rants, Denise scratched her ear. "You said I must finish it today and it's not even 7.00PM yet. I know what I'm doing."
  • "Stop boasting. I didn't even see you work that long and you—"
  • Seeing that Selina was going to rant, Denise screamed, "That's enough!"
  • Seline immediately stopped talking while the others were also shocked.
  • Denise hated it the most when others kept nagging at her and Selina just happened to be constantly bugging her. "You can say that to me when I don't finish my work by tomorrow, so please get out of my sight now. I need to start working. You're disturbing me, do you know that? If you insist on talking nonsense and delay my progress, I can only inform my superiors that you were interfering with my work. By then, the one at fault would be you and not me."
  • As Selina was dumbfounded by Denise's aura, she felt angry and was unwilling to back down when she realized what had happened.
  • "Why you… Are you putting the blame on me now? Very good! I'll see if you can finish all these by tomorrow!"
  • After saying that, she angrily trotted out of the office in her high heels.
  • She could only take her rage out on the others because she could not take it out on Denise. "Whoever doesn't finish their work is not allowed to leave today!"
  • Sneering, Denise ignored her and continued her work.
  • The other employees gradually left one after another, and in the end, only Denise was left in the office.
  • When it was 9.30PM, she tapped on the last stroke on her keyboard and finally finished her work.
  • If it had been someone else, they would have been so rushed that they would have had to work non-stop until 10.00PM or 11.00PM before finishing, but with her efficiency and good time management, she easily finished the task.
