Chapter 10 No One Will Help You

• There was silence.
• Alex tugged on his tie as he felt the rage inside him growing even bigger. He was angry at himself for saying those words to her.
• He could not figure out why he would find the atmosphere in the car to be too quiet and that he should make a conversation with her at this moment. The more he thought about it, the more frustrated he was.
• Throughout the journey home, the two did not speak a word to each other.
• Alex quickly descended the car as it came to a halt while Denise acted as if nothing had happened and leisurely alighted from the car before slowly walking in.
• Once they were inside, he sat on the couch with a glass of water in hand, but she did not even look at him when she passed by and casually went upstairs instead.
• Then, he heavily placed the cup onto the table.
• When she heard that sound, she was not fazed and continued ascending the stairs. Is he angry because of that little prank? It seems like he's quite petty! How can someone like this become the president of Harmon Corporation? Isn't his family afraid he would destroy their hard work?

• During breakfast the following day, Denise had to suffer the unfriendly ridicule of Catherine and Zoe.
• However, Denise ignored and let them say whatever they wanted as if they were invisible.
• Seeing that they did not get the reaction they wanted, Catherine and Zoe were even more frustrated.
• Meanwhile, Denise regarded it as watching some clowns perform and did not even bother with them. She finished her breakfast and went to work. Since she was a capable woman, secretarial work was as easy as pie for her. She quickly finished all her work in the morning and even took a small rest after lunch.
• Around 3.00PM, she went on a bathroom break, but then came back to see another pile of documents on her table.
• Seeing Selina standing beside her table, Denise could guess that this was her doing. "What's the meaning of this?"
• She ordered, "All these documents must be keyed into the system by today. There's supposed to be another colleague helping you, but unfortunately, something came up and he took leave, so you're all alone on this one. Remember! You must finish all this today. Compile all the data together because we need it tomorrow."
• Denise flipped through the files. It would take a long time to type them all into the computer. If she needed to finish them today, she would need to work overtime.
• "If you need this done by today, why didn't you give it to me earlier?"
• Hearing that, Selina argued, "There was a slight change of plans and I just received orders from the superiors. It's normal to have such sudden changes, so watch your attitude. Are you complaining? Although you're Mr. Harmon's fiancé, I'm sure that since you've decided to join the company, you'll adhere to your responsibilities and do whatever you need to, right?"
• How could Denise not know what she was thinking about? However, since she had come here, she would do whatever she needed to do.
• "Of course." Once she said that, she sat down and began to flip through the documents.
• A victorious smile appeared on Selina's face. Actually, she had received the orders this morning, but she waited until now to inform Denise and deliberately gave the other employee a day off.
• With so much work to do, Denise might have to work until at least 10.00PM tonight and she would be sore all over her body.
• "Remember, you must go through everything carefully. There cannot be any mistake and every number must be accurate. Otherwise, any small number can cause our final estimations to be wrong."
• Denise glanced at Selina and asked impatiently, "Is there anything else? If there is, please say it all at once."

• "If there's nothing else, please leave. Don't you have your own work to do?"
• Being told off in front of all the other employees made Selina feel embarrassed. Although Denise is Mr. Harmon's fiancé, she's only a mere secretary while I'm the head secretary. How can she speak so impolitely to me? She's just a country girl. What's there to be arrogant about? I can't stand her arrogant behavior.
• Glaring at Denise, Selina turned around and left. She was secretly scolding, Hmph! Just wait. Don't think that we're done here! There's still more waiting for you! No one here is gonna help someone like you!
