• Pierce stayed at my apartment that night. He kept telling me I’d find a job and that he would find a way to help. I wanted to assure him that I’d be okay even without his help, but I knew I was no match for his father.
• On Monday, I received a message from an unknown number saying they’d accepted my application and were inviting me for an interview at their hotel. At first, I thought it was a scam, so I called Pierce to ask if he knew anything about it.
