I took a breath after speaking so quickly. Mr. Marcello raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything. I seized the opportunity to continue expressing what I wanted to say.
"I don’t know why you’re angry with us, but I just want to clarify that I have no ill intentions. I love your son, and my feelings for him are genuine. All I want is for you to accept us because I know Pierce is also struggling with our situation. I don’t want him to always feel torn between choosing to please his father or staying by my side. We both want him to be happy."
