- Leigh let out a dry, amused snort. She leaned back, elbows draped over the chair arms. “Why so dramatic?” she asked, lifting one brow. “Feeling guilty?”
- Hannah’s cheek twitched, a tiny spasm that betrayed her before she could hide it. Her eyes skittered away, then shot back, steeled with fresh indignation. “Guilty—me? Don’t twist this. I’m a customer, and you’re supposed to serve me with a smile. Did you even hear what you just said to me? Such rudeness to a paying guest—does your boss approve of that?” She jabbed the air with one manicured finger. “I want your boss here, this instant. And believe me, I’m lodging a formal complaint!”
