Chapter 15 Housewarming

  • Han ignored him and walked downstairs. Soon, the duo arrived at a van parked in a market. "Oh, Han is here." A man greeted Han.
  • Han nodded and grabbed a crate from the van before heading straight into the market. Felix greeted the man, "Morning sir, I'm Han’s friend."
  • The man sized Felix up and asked, "Are you here to work as well?"
  • Felix smiled and replied, "I'm here to help him out." He picked up a crate and walked toward the stall after saying that.
  • Felix ran into Han who was on his return trip back to the van. When Han wanted to grab the crate from Felix's hand, Felix moved out of the way. "I need your help with something later. Why don't you move more crates from the van." Felix walked past Han after that. Soon, the duo finished moving crates of vegetables from the van in half an hour. The man gave each of them fifty dollars before sending them off on their way. Mellie woke up just in time when they arrived home.
  • "Oh, what brings you here, Felix?" Upon hearing this, Felix explained all of the horrible treatment he had to endure at home which made Mellie's heart ache for him.
  • Mellie patted his head and said, "It's nice to move out. I mean you have us and you won't have to deal with your step-mother ever again."
  • Felix nodded and replied, "You're right, Ms. Mellie."
  • Mellie grabbed his hand and said, "Why must you rent a home? You can share a room with Han. I mean, if you're fine with it that is."
  • Felix gave Han a playful look and said, "Oh, I'm definitely fine with it. I'm just worried that he isn't."
  • Han looked away when he was suddenly reminded of Felix's romantic preference. He said, "Mom, you should eat some breakfast now."
  • Mellie whispered to Felix, "Han can be shy. Don't worry, I'll speak to him."
  • Felix smiled and replied, "Thank you, Ms. Mellie."
  • Felix and Han went out again after breakfast. They went to an electronics store and bought some appliances before making their way to a furniture store. They picked out a bed, a couch and a desk.
  • "I need to use the washroom. You can keep shopping." Felix went to a mattress store after that. Apparently, he had looked up the brand and realized that it had great reviews. He understood that Han’s mattress was severely worn out and was in dire need of a replacement. Felix was greeted by a friendly staff when he entered the store. "We're running a promotion now. We are giving away pillows for every mattress you purchase. Would you like to have a look, sir?"
  • So, Felix followed the staff and said, "I want two mattresses. I'll pay now and I'll be coming with a friend later. Could you tell my friend that your store is running a buy one get one free promotion?"
  • The staff was delighted to hear that as she agreed without hesitation. Felix returned to the furniture store after he paid for the mattresses. Soon, they got out of the furniture store. Felix said, "Why don't we head into that store."
  • When Han noticed the store name, he said, "You're here to buy a mattress for the new bed you just bought?"
  • "I don't like the mattress that came with the bed," replied Felix.
  • As soon as they entered the store, the staff immediately came forward and told them about the buy one get one free promotion. "That's perfect. I'll buy one and give the other to Ms. Mellie." Before Han could say anything, Felix went to pay for the mattress. However, Han did not seem to be too happy about it, so Felix asked, "What's wrong?"
  • Although Han only had a single emotion, Felix knew him well enough to sense that he was upset. Han said, "You sure are quite the heavy spender." He only said that because Felix bought the mattress without much hesitation despite it being more than ten-thousand dollars. If Chris really had stopped giving him money, Felix would not survive a single day.
  • Han had always been a really blunt person and Felix obviously knew that he was worried about him, so he said, "I know what you're worried about. Look, I'm spending the inheritance my mother left for me. It has nothing to do with Chris." In all honesty, it was money he made and he had stopped spending Chris' money a really long time ago.
  • Han frowned and said, "You should really watch your spending as well."
  • Felix chuckled and grabbed Han’s hand. He said, "Why don't I keep the money with you? I'll ask you for money when I need money next time then?"
  • Han could feel his heart racing when Felix grabbed his hand. So, he pulled his hand back immediately and said, "Do whatever you want." He strode away after that.
  • Felix was delighted by his reaction, so he went after Han immediately. He said, "Why don't we have that meal we missed out on that day?"
  • So, the duo made their way to a local grocer and bought a bunch of ingredients. Felix prepared a feast for Han and his mother. The trio enjoyed their meal.
  • "Oh, we're blessed with Felix here."
  • Felix smiled and said, "I'll make all kinds of food for you, Ms. Mellie."
  • Apparently, Felix genuinely enjoyed Mellie's company. It was not just to get into Han’s heart. Mellie was kind and gentle, but…
  • Felix lowered his head as he did not want Mellie to notice his conflicting emotions. Soon, the things they bought were sent over. They spent the whole day unpacking and moving. After that, Felix gave Mellie a set of his keys and told her to hold onto it for him. The truth was, he wanted her to feel welcomed. Mellie was ill and could not move around that easily especially during fall when the air quality was at its worst. So, he had ordered the best air purifier for her. He even made an excuse to place the purifier in her home. He no longer needed to come up with excuses to be nice to her since he had already moved in. Although the home was small, it was well equipped with pretty much anything he needed. He even ordered a tablet because Mellie mentioned it previously. Han watched as Felix taught Mellie how to watch movies on the internet.
