Chapter 14 New Tenant

  • Although the system gave him very little information, it had faith that Felix was able to get to the bottom of it. The homeroom teacher informed the class that they would be having extra classes after school since their exams were approaching. "All of you are in your senior year now and you'll be having your finals soon…" Felix was focused on the information the system gave him while the homeroom teacher nagged. Han seemed like he was lost in his thoughts and it would be a mystery to understand what was going through in his mind. "Alright, it's time for our free study period." The homeroom teacher exited the classroom as soon as they said that. Oddly enough Felix had been unusually quiet as he did not bother Han for the entire day. He was also not asleep like he usually would. He had been acting strangely until lunch.
  • "What's on your mind?" asked Han.
  • "Huh?" Felix smiled as he regained his senses. Apparently, he was scolded by his father last night.
  • "Are you upset because you weren't home the day before yesterday?"
  • "Not exactly." Felix rubbed his neck and said, "I mean, he scolds me for a lot of things. I don't really care about it anyway."
  • "You should study well then."
  • Suddenly, Felix inched closer to Han and said, "Were you worried about me?"
  • Han ignored his questions and started eating his lunch when Felix teased him. However, Felix noticed the complicated look on Han's face.
  • Soon, it was the end of their school day and just as they approached the exit, a woman could be seen running toward them. She shoved a box into Felix's hand before leaving abruptly. Since it was the end of the school, it drew a lot of attention toward the duo. Felix smiled and remained silent as he stared at the box. He gave the box to Han when they got out of the school. "Hold onto it for me."
  • Han’s mood improved, but he replied with an emotionless tone, "I'll return the box to you after our exams."
  • "Oh, you don't have to. It's all yours." Felix left before Han could say anything.
  • Charmed Target +5. Total Charmed Points 70. Felix paused as soon as the system said that. That voice almost seemed like it was reminding him that Han was his real target. He thought to himself, I need you to change the notification alert.
  • The system paused for a moment before responding, "Will do, dear host."
  • Since the exams fell on Thursday and Friday, the duo did not interact much aside from sharing meals together and when the school day ended. "Say Han, would I get any rewards if I pass every subject?"
  • Han glared at him and said, "It's every student's duty to study."
  • "Rewards can help motivate a student to be better," replied Felix.
  • Han paused for a moment and asked, "What do you want then?"
  • "Hmm…" Felix pondered and said, "I haven't really thought of anything yet. I'll tell you when the results are out." They left soon after.
  • When Han returned home, he noticed a moving truck moving furniture into his neighbor's home.
  • "I think that house has been rented out," said Mellie.
  • Han nodded and did not say anything else.
  • Meanwhile, Felix was dealing with a furious Chris. Chris said, "All we're asking you was for a small favor. Are you saying that you're not part of our family?"
  • Felix scoffed and said, "Sam's not bad too. Why don't you tell him to help you then?"
  • Chris slammed on his desk and exclaimed, "Your brother is only sixteen!"
  • "So what?" Felix scoffed and continued, "Maybe he's' inherited his mother's genes and is quite skilled in things like that."
  • Apparently, Felix was three years older than his step brother and his biological mother passed away when he was six. This allowed his step-mother to be officially married into his family. His words were insulting to Chris. Hearing this only made Chris furious while Maggie could be seen sobbing in silence. "Get out! Don't even think about getting a single penny from our family ever again!"
  • Felix got up and said, "Perfect timing. I've rented a home elsewhere and I'm only here to inform you about that anyway." He stormed into his room and grabbed his pre-packed luggage. All of that took less than three minutes.
  • "Sir." The maids asked nervously.
  • Felix glanced at them and said, "You are free to do whatever you want after I'm gone." He left soon after.
  • Chris knew that Felix had pre-packed his luggage since Felix was able to leave so soon. This only infuriated Chris further as he yelled, "If you leave this house, you are not allowed to come back ever again!"
  • When Maggie heard that, she pleaded with Felix, "Felix, your father is just being harsh. Please don't let his words bother you too much."
  • Felix ignored her and slammed the door shut when he left. However, Maggie was delighted to watch him leave.
  • Felix took a glance at Han's window after leaving his home. It seemed that Han was already asleep since no lights were on. So, he unlocked Han’s neighbor's home and entered it. When Han got out the next day, he was greeted by a familiar face. "What's the matter? Do you not recognize your handsome classmate?" Han’s startled look was interesting to Felix.
  • "What are you doing here?" Han asked.
  • "Why can't I be here?" He shut his door as soon as he said that. He continued, "My dad has always wanted to kick me out anyway. So, I decided to move out before he could. I just hate how pretentious he is."
  • Han nodded and seemed like he wanted to say something but stopped. Felix said, "Where are you headed to at this hour? Let me tag along."
  • "I'm off to work. You don't need to tag along."
  • Felix replied, "No, I think I'll tag along regardless."
