Chapter 13 Home

  • Apparently, Han had always been a really boring person. "So, is your mom selling the house because of her condition?" Felix could somewhat understand what was going on after what happened earlier that day. If things were really as the assailant said, they would have been brought to court already. There would be no reason for the whole scuffle. Han replied in a melancholic tone, "My grandpa left this home to my mother."
  • Felix replied, "So… how bad is it?"
  • "She has stage two lung cancer." The duo remained silent for a good long while after Han said that.
  • "Please don't tell my mom. She doesn't know about it." Felix felt awful when Han said that, so he reached out and held his hand.
  • "I…" Felix wanted to tell him that he would always be there for Han, but the system stopped him. "Please remember your mission, dear host." He thought to himself, You don't have to remind me about that.
  • Han was confused because Felix did not finish his sentence.
  • "I, I'll keep that news from your mom." He forced a smile and continued, "It's getting late, let's just go to sleep." He withdrew his hand as soon as he said that. Somehow, Han felt a little disappointed by Felix.
  • Since the next day would still be sports day and they had already completed their sports that day, Felix applied a leave of absence for Han. Their leave was approved without hesitation. Felix was greeted with a neatly folded blanket next to him with Han being nowhere to be found.
  • Felix pondered for a moment and called his landlord. He lied to his landlord about his furniture being damaged and wanted to pay for a replacement set. The landlord gave him a quote as soon as the call ended. Although the furniture set was slightly overpriced, it did not bother him because he could not be bothered to bargain the price down. He transferred the money immediately. He sent another text message to the landlord after that. The landlord told him that they would contact him as soon as it was ready. He did some stretches after that and was immediately reminded of the bruise on his back which made him gasp in pain. After he was done freshening up, he decided to look for some ingredients from the fridge to cook breakfast.
  • "You should rest, Felix. Just tell me what you would like to eat." Mellie looked concerned.
  • Felix smiled and said, "I'm honestly fine, Ms. Mellie. Besides, I should move my muscles a little."
  • "Well…" Mellie did not know what to suggest he should do for fun since they did not even have a TV.
  • Felix replied, "Why don't we cook together, Ms. Mellie." He had already planned to cook her a simple and healthy meal earlier. Mellie smiled and said, "Sure."
  • Han was greeted with a heartwarming scene as soon as he returned home. Mellie waved at him and said, "Come, join us for a meal." Han nodded at her. Felix had prepared a simple meal, but it was delicious. It was so good that Han had three helpings of the same food. He would have more if they had prepared more earlier.
  • Both Felix and Mellie smiled when Han did that. "I've called our teacher and informed them that we won't be coming to school today."
  • Han nodded and said, "We'll have a tutor session then." He took out a biology textbook and said, "Come here."
  • Felix hid behind Mellie when Han suggested that they should study. He said, "My back hurts, Ms. Mellie."
  • Mellie smiled and said, "Come on Han, he is still hurt. Let him take a break."
  • Han felt helpless as he said, "But mom, our exams…"
  • "Ah, what a wonderful day it is today. Why don't we go out and have fun today, Ms. Mellie?" said Felix.
  • Han smirked and asked, "I thought your back hurts?"
  • Hearing this made Felix pout. Soon, they arrived at a park. Felix took a bunch of pictures of the mother and son duo. He also bought them three pots of flowers. However, Han hairstyle was so horrible that his face was pretty much obscured by his hair. Han paid for their lunch before heading back home. They had a very wonderful time together. So much so that Felix did not want to leave Han’s home.
  • "Our exams are this week, and I suggest that you study at home," said Han.
  • Han replied, "Do you not have anything else to say to me besides studying?"
  • Han paused for a brief moment and said, "Remember to apply the medicine on your bruise."
  • Han teased, "But my bruise is on my back. I won't be able to reach it." He hugged Han and said, "I think it's better if you apply it for me when we're in school." He called a cab and said, "I'll be off now."
  • "Sure."
  • Chris and the others were not home when Felix returned. So, he tossed his bag on the couch before pouring himself a glass of water.
  • When Nancy heard the commotion, she rushed down to report things to him. "Mr. and Mrs. Turner mentioned that they needed to celebrate their youngest son's achievement. This is why they aren't home." she sounded nervous when she said that. Apparently, Felix's parents were not even concerned about his absence. They only cared about Felix's brother. One would think that Felix was a step child if it was not for his biological father. Felix used to be a very obedient child. However, ever since his father remarried, their bond only grew more distant. Felix was not bothered by it at all because he had someone else to focus on then. He went upstairs after that. He connected his phone to his computer and opened up his gallery. It was unsure what was going through his mind then. "Target is charmed by sixty points. Would you like to unlock new mission details?"
  • He remained silent for a brief moment and thought, Sure.
  • Jonus Bruce, Ocean Group.
  • They're gone?
  • Transfer complete.
