Chapter 6 Name Your Price

  • The man sat in bed, his hawk-like eyes still on Natalie. Natalie hadn't expected for the man to exude such a dangerous aura from the moment he woke up from his coma. Back then, she had decided to treat Casper, but had never thought that the man would show such hostility toward her after regaining consciousness. It was at this moment she thought of the man as a sleeping lion. Now that the lion had woken up, she would always be in danger from the lion. Furthermore, it was obvious to see that he did not approve of the marriage. Looks like I'll be leaving this family soon, she thought.
  • "Why are you still here?"
  • Natalie then grunted before she left the room.
  • Although this was the first time the two had officially met, Casper already had his heart dead set on someone else. As for who that someone else was, Natalie was none the wiser. She only knew that Casper felt animosity toward her. Slightly confused with the current development, she moved into one of the guest rooms. On this night, she received dozens of calls from Justin and Logan, but she didn't answer any of them, as she knew the reason for their calls. Instead, she blacklisted their numbers and went to sleep.
  • The next morning, Natalie woke up and went downstairs to find Casper in the middle of his breakfast. After what happened last night, she was slightly afraid of the man.
  • Mrs. Jenkins came over and nudged Natalie as she assured her. "Mrs. Langston, Mr. Langston is waiting for you to have breakfast together. Don't worry. Although he looks fierce, he's actually a really good man. He won't give you a hard time."
  • Then, Natalie took a glance at the dining hall. Although Casper was seated in a wheelchair, his appearance was still graceful and dignified. Anyone would mistake the man for a prince from some fairy tale at a single glance. Since Natalie had been massaging him all this while, his bodily functions were all normal with the exception of his legs. But, I doubt he's planning to have a meal with me, right? she thought to herself.
  • "Mr. Langston, we've found him! We've found Professor Wright! He agreed to treat your legs! Since his flight here is in the afternoon, he will be able to start the treatment as soon as tonight! You'll be able to stand in no time!" A delighted voice came from behind Natalie. Immediately after that, a man in a black suit entered.
  • Although Casper had woken up from his coma, he had suffered grave injuries on his legs, which was why he still couldn't use his legs. Judging by what she heard, Natalie assumed that the family had found a doctor to treat his legs. She then cast a glance at his legs. With their current relationship, the man would never believe that she was the one who had treated him. Whatever, it's better to lay low now, she thought without the slightest intention to explain herself.
  • When the man in a black suit saw Natalie, he stopped in his tracks and smiled. "Hello, Mrs. Langston. It's nice meeting you. My name is Tyler Hargreeves. I'm Mr. Langston's special assistant. Please don't hesitate to ask for me if you require my assistance in the future." As soon as he finished introducing himself, he could feel a gloomy gaze on him. Then he immediately hurried over to Casper.
  • Natalie unknowingly had her gaze follow Tyler as he went over to Casper. Coincidentally, she then made eye contact with Casper when her eyes drifted to the man. Since they had made eye contact with one another, she had no other choice but to brace herself and walk over to him.
  • Throughout Tyler's report, Casper remained silent and only took sips of his coffee.
  • Natalie picked a seat that was farthest away from Casper and sat down, after which Mrs. Jenkins served her breakfast. However, she had no appetite as she was under the watchful gaze of Casper.
  • Once Tyler was done with his report, he left after receiving a few instructions from Casper.
  • Following Tyler's departure, the room instantly turned cold in the atmosphere.
  • With his deep black eyes, Casper continued to look at Natalie and said casually, "How much? Name your price."
  • Taken aback, Natalie replied, "H-Huh?"
  • "Divorce," Casper said in an eerily cold tone.
  • From how Casper acted last night, Natalie was not surprised, as she had already seen this coming. "Oh, right now?"
  • "In two days. Prepare your documents and wait for my instructions." Since Ethel was currently unconscious after she fainted last night, he wanted to wait for her condition to be stable before proceeding with the divorce.
  • Natalie nodded. "Ok, I'll wait." After that, she simply took a few bites of her breakfast before she went back to her room to grab her bag. When she came back down, she was startled when she saw Henry kneeling at Casper's feet with a bruised nose and a swollen face.
  • With his slightly pale lips forming into a smile, Casper said coldly, "Are you disappointed that I'm not dead, Henry?"
  • "Casper, I was wrong. I'm just a senile old man. I know now that I should not have gone after your position. I won't do this a second time. Casper, please spare me… Aaaahhh!"
