Chapter 5 Get Out of the Langston Family

  • On one end of the corridor in the hotel, Natalie wore a pleased expression as she looked at the situation unfolding. Since Britney likes Justin so much, I would very much like to see if she would still feel the same after news of this comes out!
  • Beep.
  • Then, Natalie's phone notification interrupted her thoughts and pulled her back to reality. Upon noticing that it was a phone call from Hillside Villa, she immediately swore inwardly before she picked up her phone and left the hotel.
  • "Mrs. Langston, bad news. There's a situation with Mr. Langston right now…"
  • Casper's treatment could not be stopped once it had begun. That meant that Natalie had to perform the treatment daily at the same time. Since she had personally come over to watch Justin make a fool out of himself publicly, she had nearly forgotten about this. It was only after she returned to Hillside Villa with great haste and performed the daily treatment on Casper did his condition stabilize.
  • However, Mrs. Jenkins had also contacted the Langstons' family doctor, as she was beside herself with worry. Since Casper's symptoms had already disappeared by the time the doctor checked up on him, she saw no need to notify the Langston Residence. After the doctor left, Natalie gave a brief explanation to Mrs. Jenkins before she went back to her room.
  • Soon after that, Natalie received a call from Britney. "Natalie Hartwell! You b*tch! How could you do this to Justin?! It's all because you tricked him that his reputation is down the drain! I'm going to kill you for this!" Britney was furious. Initially, she had thought that after she took everything from Natalie and married into the Lewis Family, she would forever be freed from being in the shadows of Natalie. However, she had never expected Natalie to ruin her plans. Thus, she was so furious to the extent of wanting to end Natalie's life with her own two hands.
  • Natalie lowered her eyelid slightly. "I tricked him? Do you think that Justin Lewis is the kind of man that would be tricked into going to a hotel? Why are you calling me about this rather than calling him out? Ask that man why he was in a hotel in the first place." With that, Natalie immediately ended the call, as she did not want to listen to Britney's nonsense.
  • Then, Natalie turned her attention to the comatose man in the bed before she said softly, "Casper Langston, would you think that I'm heartless if you could hear what I've said? But, they are just getting their just deserts!"
  • With Justin's hotel scandal all over the news, everyone started speculating whether the Hartley Family would break off the wedding. However, both the families involved had announced that the marriage would be held as scheduled and had even worked behind the scenes to bury the scandal from the people's minds.
  • Just like that, a month passed in the blink of an eye. In order to avoid the prior incident from happening again, Natalie had stayed home for the past month without going out much. Tonight, she had just come out of the shower and was about to go to bed as usual when she noticed the comatose Casper suddenly opened his eyes.
  • "Ah!" Natalie shouted. Then, after a brief moment of her frozen on the spot, she immediately ran out of the room to find Mrs. Jenkins. "Mrs. Jenkins, Casper's awake!"
  • Soon, news of Casper regaining consciousness spread throughout the Langston Family. Not even half an hour had passed when Ethel came over with a doctor. After the doctor finished performing a checkup on Casper, the doctor said with joy, "This is a miracle! Old Mrs. Langston, I have never seen a patient who had been in a coma for so long to have woken up! This is truly a miracle! Since Mr. Langston's body seems normal without any abnormalities, he will be fully recovered after a few follow-up treatments!"
  • It was only after the doctor finished explaining did Ethel shed tears of joy over Casper waking up.
  • Lying in bed, Casper's gaze laced with slight gloom fell on Natalie. Slowly, he asked, "Who… is… she…?" Since he had just awakened from a long period of coma, his manner of speech was akin to a child learning to speak for the first time. Furthermore, his voice was still hoarse and deep, but still had an impactful feeling to it.
  • The bedroom immediately fell into silence, as no one dared to explain the situation.
  • Ethel wiped the tears off one corner of her eyes before she explained, "Casper, her name's Natalie. She's the wife I've chosen for you when you were in a coma."
  • Just as Casper sat up with the support of others, his gloomy eyes laid squarely on Natalie, as though he was looking at an intruder in his home.
  • "What about her?"
  • Her? Who?
  • Ethel's expression turned slightly troubled before she sneered, "Casper, just forget about that woman. She immediately left abroad not long after your car accident and had even said that a young girl like her would never marry a living dead man. Only Natalie was willing to marry you even though you were in a coma, so you'll—"
  • Casper interrupted her with a cold hostility in his tone. "How good can she be if she chose to marry a living dead man? I don't need this marriage, so just tell her to get out of the Langston Family."
  • As Ethel was already agitated, she immediately fainted after hearing Casper's remark. Immediately, the surrounding people rushed her to the hospital and left both Casper and Natalie alone in the room.
