Chapter 10 Casper, You Freaking Psychopath

  • "You're Tyler Hargreeves! Don't be so smug with yourself! Henry has already secured the Langston Family inheritance. If you kneel and beg me now, I might still help you out here. If you know what's best for you, you'd better hand over Natalie Langston to us immediately! Otherwise, I'll send you to accompany Casper Langston in death!"
  • Back when Casper was still the very picture of health, no one would dare come to his residence and cause such a scene, let alone disregard Tyler. However, the men here determined that Casper's era was over. Tonight was to be the new beginning of the Langston Family, as everything that Casper once had would be taken from him.
  • Tyler then gave a sardonic smile. "You and what army? Men! Arrest them all!" At his command, several black-suited bodyguards immediately surrounded the intruders. Right now, it was a brief calm before the storm. A moment later, the storm happened.
  • Upstairs, in the bedroom.
  • Completely unaware of the situation downstairs, Natalie had just finished Casper's treatment and was about to leave when Casper suddenly opened his eyes and grabbed her by her wrist. "What are you doing?"
  • Natalie frowned and tried to break free from Casper's grip. However, the more she struggled to do so, the darker his expression became.
  • Before he lost consciousness, Casper heard Professor Wright lamenting that he could not cure his legs. Not only that, but the professor had even said that he was suffering a backlash and would lose his life at any moment now. However, he miraculously regained consciousness once more. Thinking back, a comatose person couldn't have suddenly regained consciousness after being in a coma for a long period, unless someone had been secretly performing a treatment on him.
  • The first time he woke up, it was Natalie by his side. Back then, he needed time to process information and paid no further mind to her, as everything was happening at once. This time, it was still her by his side. Is this a coincidence? The seeds of suspicion had been planted in his heart.
  • Feeling the man's gaze, as though he was looking at a prey, Natalie panicked slightly. Is he suspecting me now? No, it can't be. Since he didn't see me performing the treatment, I'll just have to deny everything even if he questions me. Right now, all she wanted was to get a divorce as soon as possible and get away from this dangerous man. "Casper, you freaking psychopath! You're hurting me! Let go!" This man is just too scary for me to deal with.
  • A cold glint flashed briefly in his amber eyes before he pulled his handsome face closer to Natalie and said in a stern voice, "I'll ask you one last time. What are you doing just now? Are you planning to kill me?" Considering that she was the only one in the room and that she was so close to him, she was either trying to save him, or to kill him.
  • Upon Casper's accusation, Natalie froze, as the very thought of killing him had never once crossed her mind. However, this psychopath had just accused her of trying to kill him. Not only that, but this psychopath had always walked the talk. "No, Casper, you're—"
  • Casper coldly interrupted her. "Are you afraid of me?"
  • Just who wouldn't when you're like this? she thought, but remained silent out of fear.
  • Just then, there was a knock on the door followed by the sound of the door handle turning. Natalie could feel her heart sink at this very moment. Since she was afraid that someone would enter the bedroom and interrupt the treatment, she'd locked the door to the bedroom earlier. However, before she could unlock the door, Casper suddenly woke up. Regardless, in his eyes, these suspicious actions led him to a different assumption.
  • Taking a glance at the locked door, Casper immediately roared, "You lied to me!"
  • "I—"
  • Before Natalie could explain herself, Tyler had kicked the door open. He was briefly taken aback upon stumbling into such a scene inside the bedroom, but immediately came back to his senses and said with joy, "Mr. Langston, you're awake!" Since the door was locked, he had a hunch that something was wrong. Afraid that Henry's men had gotten to Casper, he couldn't help but break the door down. But, why was Mrs. Langston inside the room?
  • "Did something happen?" Casper asked while loosening his grip on Natalie's wrist in displeasure.
  • Tyler then explained, "Henry had caught wind that you were on your deathbed, so he had sent his men over to capture Mrs. Langston back to the Langston Residence for an unknown reason. Besides that, they said that Henry has secured his inheritance of the Langston Family. I'm afraid there is a commotion right now at the Langston Residence. But, please rest assured, Mr. Langston. We have arrested Henry's men. So, what should we do next?"
  • With a mischievous smile, Casper said indifferently, "Report my death. Tell Henry that I have died and that the share agreement is in my study so that he'll come and get it himself."
  • "Understood, Mr. Langston." With that, Tyler left the room in a hurry.
  • "Just who are you really?" Casper asked coldly. Based on what Tyler had told him, he had obtained a piece of crucial information that Henry wanted to capture Natalie back to the Langston Residence. Since the number of times Henry had met Natalie could be counted on one hand, Casper could not understand why Henry wanted to see Natalie. In Casper's mind, there was only one possibility left: that she was taking orders from Henry. Hence, he believed his deduction that Natalie was here to kill him was correct, that she was here to kill him under Henry's orders.
