Chapter 19 Why She Didn't Come To You

  • At the Langston Group's building, sunlight shone into the president's office on the top floor through the large French window, creating a dreamlike scenery. This was the highest place in Kaiton, as well as the place everyone in Kaiton's business circles wanted to set foot in and become the owner of.
  • Sasha put a document onto Casper's desk. "Casper, I'm really sorry about what happened last night. Actually, if you don't mind, I'd like to apologize to Miss Hartwell face to face. I heard that her company is facing a debt crisis. This is an investment contract. As long as she's willing to sign her name on it, the contract will come into effect, and the Maxwell Group will be the Hartwell Corporation's largest investor," she said, explaining her purpose in coming here. Of course, she didn't really want to invest in the Hartwell Corporation. She just wanted to show Casper her magnanimity to save face after what had happened last night.
  • Casper's thin lips parted as he replied in a deep, cold voice, "Do I look stupid? Don't ignore my warning. If you dare touch a hair on Natalie's head, I'll make you apologize to her on your knees."
  • Tyler came in at the right moment and showed Sasha the way out.
  • Casper had him destroy the document right away.
  • Tyler said, "Mr. Langston, I've asked about it. Five of the banks that Mr. Weissman of the Hartwell Corporation contacted have made large loans to the company, which the company hasn't repaid. So, the remaining three banks definitely won't loan money to Madam. Since she's so short of cash, she probably will end up borrowing money from you. But I think it's the best choice for her not to inherit the company, so I guess she'll give up on inheriting it."
  • Will she come? Casper darted a look at him. "You still have time to look into these things? Seems like you really have nothing to do."
  • Tyler's lips twitched. "No, Boss. It suddenly occurs to me that I still have some documents to handle. I gotta go!"
  • After Tyler left, Casper's fathomless eyes fell upon his cell phone. He had transferred the money this morning, so Natalie must've received the notification. However, she hadn't responded to the transaction notification or accepted the money so far. Did she not notice it? Or could it be that she had noticed it but pretended not to?
  • After arriving at the company, Natalie announced that she wouldn't give up the company. Alexis and the senior executives sighed in relief. However, despite multiple attempts, she failed to open the safe, causing the situation to reach a deadlock.
  • After contacting several banks, Natalie realized that the situation was even worse than she had expected. The company was still owing money to five banks. Therefore, the managers of the other three banks either rejected her phone calls or hung up on her as soon as they heard that she was calling from the Hartwell Corporation.
  • Ding! Out of nowhere, she received a WhatsApp message from Casper.
  • At first, Natalie didn't want to read it. She was so busy trying to find solutions to the company's problems that she was in no mood to care about him. However, just as she wanted to swipe the message off her phone's screen, she heard a knock on the door, which caused her to open the text message by accident. Only three unemotional words were displayed on the WhatsApp chat interface: 'Accept the money.'
  • Natalie had yet to decide whether to accept the living allowances she had received this morning.
  • "Good news, Natalie!" Alexis came in with a look of delight on his face. "Mr. Quinton, the manager of Excellence Bank, has agreed to meet us tonight at Centuria Hotel to negotiate a loan. This is the information about our new project. Familiarize yourself with the information first, then dress nicely and talk to him about it." He handed Natalie the document containing the information about the company's new project.
  • Natalie locked her phone before asking, "Why do I have to dress nicely? I think I look pretty good right now." She didn't really like to dress up, so she wore no makeup most of the time. Moreover, her clothes were mostly comfortable to wear, and none of them were branded, which was why Sasha dared to taunt her publicly about her way of dressing last night. However, she didn't want to accept Casper's money either. This would make it seem like she owed him something, and she would no longer feel that justice was on her side if they were to quarrel in the future.
  • Alexis replied, "Just dress up and put on some makeup. Not only will it make you look smarter, but that's the minimum respect you could show your clients. You'll also leave a good impression on them."
  • Natalie accepted Alexis' explanation. "Okay, I'll put on some makeup later."
  • Alexis said, "Alright then, read through the information first. I'll contact the two other banks and see whether we can ask them out for negotiations."
  • "Uh-huh."
  • At 5:30PM, Tyler received an accurate piece of information. "Mr. Langston, Madam has decided not to give up the company. Then, in order to secure a loan, she asked the manager of Excellence Bank out for dinner," he reported. "But as far as I know, the manager of this bank is a notorious old lecher. Madam is too young and unsophisticated. Actually, I don't understand why she didn't come to you. You're now her nominal husband no matter what. There's no way you can't compare with that old lecher—"
  • Thump! Casper smashed the coffee cup to pieces while looking as black as thunder.
