• WEST'S POV
• "Where is my baby?" I push the door of my suite open and step into the quiet space. "Sam?" Today, I'm excited; we have moved a substantial step in the ladder of progress, and we did it without any encumbrance. I drop my bag on the couch in the living room and enter the kitchen to have a glass of water first. I wonder why Lily is not answering, and I know it's past her closing time. "Baby?" I peek into her room; her bed is made, but there is no one on. "Sam?" She is probably in my bed... naked.
• But I had expected her to be dancing and celebrating when I walked in because she had done the test, and it's supposed to be positive. But she is just lying on the bed and covering her body with the sheets, and her back is to the door, so I can't see her face. "Sam." I move carefully to the bed and sit beside her. I run my fingers against her back and turn her face to look at me.
