- The guest suite door clicked shut behind Maddison, a sound of an ending that copied the closing of a door in her heart. "That's exactly what she wants," was just an echo within the empty sound of the room as she remembered her just ended argument with Grant. His panicked words, his pleas, and his chilling echoing of Tyler's excuses all swirled within her mind.
- She sank down upon the edge of a bed that was perfectly made, its clean white comforter a cold glare that actually gave no comfort. Her body was shaking, not from cold, but from a trembling sense of being betrayed. The betrayal she had felt was a real thing; a crushing feeling in her chest that made it hard to breathe.
