• Relief hit Maddison so strongly her knees went weak. She knew that had done it. She'd passed his test of impossible challenges and she did it before the deadline.
• The words spoken by Grant hung, echoing off the huge empty air. Maddison's head struggled with the hard-to-grasp meaning of what he had said; millions of dollars. A terrible failure. It was unreal, a number and a word too big to understand and in all of this, all she knew was the crushing pressure had just gone away, and in its place, she felt a stunned feeling of freedom.
