• And not just that Brooke was staring, she was staring with full attention. There was nothing friendly in her eyes, no relaxed surprise. Her face was a mask of intense, focused thought. She placed her lips in a tight, tight line. It was the image of an animal looking for its prey as it had just come across its prey, and this latest photo sent a shiver down Maddison’s spine.
