Chapter 46 A Hole In The Foundation
- MADDISON'S POV
- Jenna's face was now out of sight, blocked by Maddison's own in the black glass of her mobile phone. The image was dark; a white-skinned woman floating on a wave of white marble. Jenna's harsh, gritty words of mean fact still echoed in the calm, fancy room. Tyler is a ghost. Don't let him haunt you. It was advice. It was the only smart advice.
- But ghosts, she had quickly realized, did not need to be invited to haunt. They simply saw the cracks in the walls and slipped in. And Tyler, with that final, harmful question, had only managed to place a crack in the rock of her new life.
