Chapter 10
- Eena’s body froze the moment she turned and found Carlos standing there. His tall frame blocked the soft light coming from the hallway. His cologne lingered in the air, the same scent that had unsettled her since the first day she met him. Something about it crawled under her skin.
- For a second, neither of them spoke. Eena slowly reached for the music player behind her and turned it off. The room fell into an uncomfortable silence that made her feel even more exposed, like he had caught her doing something wrong.
- Carlos’s eyes drifted slowly around her room, scanning everything, her open luggage, her scattered clothes, the untouched water bottle on the table, the curtains fluttering softly. Then his gaze landed on the cream-colored notebook lying on the rug where she had tossed it.
