Chapter 1 The Return of the King of Soldiers

  • Frigid North.
  • A young man dressed as a grand marshal held a fishing rod and sat quietly on the glacier; his body was already snow-covered.
  • "Archie hopes you can return to Soviani to work, Sebastian." A group of people dressed in military uniforms stood quietly while looking at the young man, who resembled a snow sculpture.
  • Sebastian was the only child of Solomon Corporation's founder—the Baker Family. He initially had the life of everyone's dreams; no worries about food, money, and he had parents who bestowed all their love to him along with having a stunning fiancé.
  • However, his parents were framed ten years ago and owed large sums of money. The recollection of how his parents were forced to their ending days was something he would never forget.
  • His family's relatives were even more problematic. Not only did they not want to avenge his parents, they frantically divided up their family properties, scrapping everything for themselves.
  • He even went to his fiancé's family, the Evanses, and begged bitterly before getting kicked out of the house with divorce papers.
  • For three days, he knelt before the Evans Family's front door.
  • As time slowly passed, his disappointment gradually piled up like the snow. He completely despaired of this world after witnessing his so-called relatives' ugliness as well as their non-existent warmth and affection.
  • He went abroad to become a mercenary because he wanted to die; he had no idea that after ten years of bloody battles, he would not only achieve immortal achievements, but also amassed billions of dollars in wealth and became the king of mercenaries.
  • For many people, just the mere mention of Sebastian Baker became a nightmare for them.
  • In the previous year, Croyford ordered him to attack Soviani, but how could he ambush his own motherland? Therefore, he was named the world's top criminal and had to hide in Tucanamia to live a life of fishing and meditating.
  • "Archie values you. Don't you want to return to Soviani to make a name for yourself and contribute to your country?" The leader was anxious.
  • However, Sebastian remained motionless. Soviani, the lovely land, is no longer for me.
  • Five years ago, he returned to Soviani to exact revenge and he led his men to destroy the enemy's villa. Just as he was about to end the enemy, Soviani stopped him.
  • Naturally, Soviani was ruled by the laws and Sebastian's hands were already tainted with blood.
  • He could not go back to Soviani, a place where his parents' murderer was still on the loose. He also could not bear to face the relatives who ditched him when he was in need because he was afraid that he would lose control.
  • It would be hell once his desire to kill grew.
  • "What if it's for her?" The leader took out a photograph.
  • At last, Sebastian finally moved and cracks appeared on his snow mold before he directed his pair of icy eyes to the photo.
  • "She has waited ten years for you. Even when the Evanses ended her marriage with you, she has still been waiting for you regardless. The Evanses have filed for bankruptcy and she has led a terrible life over the past few years."
  • "She's my childhood sweetheart." Sebastian let out an icy sigh.
  • He stood up slowly while holding the fishing rod, which was tugging along the tightened thread. "I am willing to return to Soviani with you and work for you, but you can't stop me when it's time I seek retribution again."
  • "I can promise not to kill anyone, but I'll beat them half to death instead…"
  • As Sebastian cautiously tugged his rod, a gigantic fish, measuring more than thirty feet long, shattered through the ice and shot out with splashing gleams of water everywhere.
  • Three days later in Soviani…
  • Sebastian stood emotionally at the entrance of Montes Group in Rithfield, his hometown.
  • His parents had built their first business from scratch and they had worked very hard to do it; this very business served as a launching pad for their future endeavors. After the family relocated to Solomon, the Nash Empire abruptly fell apart and his parents never left the world of business.
  • Griffin, who was his family's driver back then, was the current proprietor of this business. When Sebastian came back to Rithfield ten years ago in hopes to gain a compatriot to avenge his parents' death, he was met with utter disappointment when seeked assistance from Griffin. Not only did Griffin seize the company forcibly, he even slapped Sebastian in the face and offered him zero help.
  • Sebastian would never forget that slap in the face even after ten years.
  • He was about to enter the Montes Group when two strong security guards stopped him. These rude brats. It's no surprise they work under Griffin, the scoundrel.
  • The guards scanned Sebastian, who was in his shoddy apparel, before questioning coldly, "What are you here for?"
  • "I'm here to see Griffin Parker," Sebastian answered calmly.
  • "You? Coming here to look for our boss? F*ck off." One of the security guards appeared perplexed.
  • "Motherf*cker. Who are you to address our boss by his full name?" another security guard exclaimed fiercely.
  • "Say that again, I dare you." Sebastian's eyes were cold.
  • "Motherf—"
  • Slap! Sebastian sent a welcome gift onto the security guard's face, causing him to fumble around before crashing to the ground with his two fallen teeth.
  • When the other security guard witnessed Sebastian's audacity to strike, he yelled at him and charged forward.
  • Thump!
  • The security guard was flung out violently with only a small kick from Sebastian.
  • Numerous security personnel were still present in the hallway and they swarmed over as soon as they spotted their colleagues being attacked. However, the expressionless Sebastian immediately lifted up the security screener, which weighed a ton, and threw it toward the guards.
  • Bang!
  • The security guards backed away and the screener landed on the marble floor, leaving a huge pit that looked like an amplified spider web.
  • The security personnel all became pale and were terrified to approach Sebastian.
  • "Imbeciles." After letting out a chilly snort, Sebastian entered the elevator without hesitation.
  • He took the elevator all the way up to the nineteenth floor, where the office of the president's office was located. He could not help inhaling deeply as soon as he entered the office.
  • Sadness washed over him like it was nothing.
  • The furniture and settings of the room had not altered much despite the decade. The desks, couches, and bookcases placed in the thousands of square feet office were once his father's. In the office also lay a rosewood tea tray, which was an incredible gift from the Evanses.
  • A middle-aged man with a fleshy face was sitting behind the desk while a stunning woman with slim legs and a tight skirt was staring at Sebastian in shock.
  • This man was Griffin, who served as the Baker Family's chauffeur back then.
  • "Stuart?" Griffin was taken aback as he recognized Sebastian.
  • Ten years ago, he went by the name Stuart.
  • "You're alive?" Griffin asked as he lit up a cigarette.
  • "Sure am," Sebastian responded.
  • Griffin had an odd smile on his face as he said, "What a surprise. I haven't seen you in ten years and I thought you were dead."
  • "Mr. Griffin, Montes Group belongs to my family. My parents were hounded to death back then and you snatched the company away from us. Now that Soviani has summoned me back, I hope you can return the company to me," stated Sebastian.
  • "Hey, do you know? This motherf*cker was like a wasted junk back then. He's always getting bullied at school and I had to show up to save his *ss. If it wasn't for his rich parents, he would have been beaten to death by then," Griffin interrupted Sebastian's words and laughed toward the pretty lady at the side. "I thought this piece of trash would have died on the streets without his mommy and daddy's money, but I guess I was wrong!"
  • "Why is he here now?" the woman asked.
  • "He probably couldn't live any longer by scavenging, so he's here to beg for food." Griffin licked his lips and gave a sly grin.
  • The woman snickered and covered her mouth as she cast a peek at Sebastian's handsome face.
  • Sebastian, on the other hand, remained calm.
  • "Give him the cash and shoo him away." Griffin pulled a little stack of cash out of his drawer and gave it to the woman sitting next to him.
  • "Pretty boy, you heard it. President Parker wants you to leave." The attractive woman approached Sebastian while grinning.
  • Her hands were slender and fair while her long nails were embellished with stunning jewels. She tucked the thin stack of cash with less than a thousand into his pocket.
  • With three-hundred thousand private armed forces, Sebastian was currently the king of mercenaries and their annual military expenditure was horrifying.
  • Over tens of billions in military funding would have been allocated to him each year had he not offended a certain powerful figure and became the top wanted criminal.
  • Sebastian could feel the woman pulling her hand out from his pocket. However, he remained serene and stood very still.
  • "Why are you being so kind to him when he's just a piece of sh*t?" Griffin pulled out another stack of bills from the drawer while displaying impatience on his face.
  • He then marched toward Sebastian and shoved the cash in his face, exclaiming, "This is the way to do it. Understand?"
  • "Get moving, you stinky beggar!" Griffin growled at Sebastian, whose face was scattered with the man's spit.
