Chapter 7 Twenty Million Dowry

  • Dustin's unexpected proposal caught Charlotte, Sandy, Mandy, and Sebastian off guard. The sunlight streamed into the living room, illuminating the two-carat diamond ring in his hand, which drew their attention with its gleaming radiance. It was obvious at first glance that it was expensive; it costs at least three hundred thousand.
  • "Charlotte, if you let me marry Sandy, the Smiths will add three million to the dowry." As he gritted his teeth, he was determined to give it his all.
  • When Charlotte heard his words and looked at the diamond ring, her eyes lit up. The statement swayed her opinion.
  • "Sandy, I genuinely love you. If you say yes, I'll give you anything you want once I'm rich. Please, marry me," Dustin spoke loudly while looking at her intently.
  • "Don't you think that it's too sudden?" Charlotte was apprehensive about his marriage proposal to Sandy.
  • "I have pursued her for the past three months. Charlotte, you know how I feel about Sandy. As long as you consent to the marriage, I will treat her with respect, and that includes the Evans Family. With my intelligence and capability, I am confident that you will achieve great success in the future. Please allow me to marry Sandy," he asserted with his teeth clenched.
  • Charlotte fell into a dilemma.
  • "Sandy, will you marry me?" Dustin's eyes were filled with affection.
  • "No, I'm not going to marry you." Sandy gently shook her head.
  • "Why?" His expression changed.
  • "I'm already engaged," she explained.
  • "I thought your engagement was called off a long time ago?" He turned to face Sebastian with a horrified expression.
  • She heaved a sigh. "All right, this is what I think."
  • In the past, the Evans Family was quite well off, and she had received many proposals from other rich men. A handful of them had also liked her looks for the past few years. However, her constant refusal made her mother give her the cold shoulder and the days at home became tough for her. That was her thought, but she never told anyone about it.
  • "Stuart and I were childhood sweethearts. After his family moved to Solomon ten years ago, I've been missing him so much and I sincerely pray the best for him. However, his parents couldn't adapt themselves to the business in Solomon. They fell for their competitor's schemes and left the world in resentment. When he came to our place and begged us, my heart was torn into pieces, but I couldn't help with anything. We were powerless at that time," Sandy said.
  • Sebastian stared at her in silence and with mixed emotions.
  • "I know my place very well, that I'm no match for the big guns in Solomon. So, I don't expect myself to be able to avenge his parents. I just want to wait for him, until the time he comes to me when he can't survive any longer out there. He's broke, but my family has the money. Even if you don't have me, you can find other pretty girls, but he can't live without me. That's why there's always a place for him in my heart," she explained.
  • "So, you want to financially support this man for the rest of your life?" Charlotte inquired.
  • "Mom, the Baker Family and we were the second-tier among the wealthy families when we were close. They didn't abandon us after they succeeded. So, how can we abandon the Bakers when they hit rock bottom? We shouldn't be too realistic sometimes. We should be compassionate," Sandy explained.
  • "If you marry him, you'll be poor for the rest of your life, and it won't help the Evans Family either," Charlotte countered.
  • "We have a manor and an Audi, but he has nothing," Sandy snarled.
  • "So, are you going to let him leech off of you?" Charlotte retorted.
  • "We are friends, and we should help him," Sandy said firmly.
  • "Why are you waiting for that good-for-nothing? Sandy, look at this diamond ring and think about the three million dowry that I can give you. If you marry me, you'll have everything!" Sweat was dripping down Dustin's brow.
  • "If Sandy marries me, I'll give her a five-carat diamond ring and three hundred million dollars in dowry," Sebastian chimed in casually.
  • Sandy, Mandy, and Charlotte looked at him with astonishment. Then, Dustin looked at him and said, "What, you?"
  • Sebastian's net worth was always estimated in local currency, and it definitely exceeded the amount mentioned. Three hundred million was a small amount to him; the money he spent in a day abroad surpassed way more than that.
  • "You don't love Sandy at all," Sebastian claimed.
  • "And what the heck do you even know, screw you!" Dustin bellowed.
  • Sebastian's eyes narrowed in disgust as he thought of the people who would curse his parents. "If you truly like her, you should respect her decision now that you know her choice," he said calmly. "If I know that you're the person she likes, I'll give up immediately instead of tempting her parents with benefits and making her suffer at home because of her mother."
  • "About the deal with the Montes Group, you're desperate to marry Sandy because you're not confident. You're afraid that the president will take a liking to her after the meeting, isn't it? If you really like her, you shouldn't have suggested to her to lure their president. Keep the business between men. No matter how difficult it is, you should take it upon yourself. How could you ask a lady to bear the burden with you? Now that you're telling her to seduce the president, I wonder if you'll ask her to entertain your business partners in future. Whether it's money or sincerity, I love Sandy more than you do." Sebastian smiled at Sandy before he continued, "As for the Montes Group, as long as you have faith in me, I can pull it off for you."
  • "Get out!" Charlotte commanded coldly.
  • "Charlotte?" Sebastian was shocked.
  • "I'm telling you to get out," she said, looking at his icy gaze. He was perplexed and stood silently staring at Charlotte.
  • "Cut the crap and show us what you have. The Smith Family is cash flow and has twenty million in cash, but what do you have? How dare a good-for-nothing like you compete with Dustin!" she yowled.
  • Sebastian's brows were deeply furrowed.
  • "Look at the rags you're wearing. Who gives you the right to interrupt the conversation? Forget about three hundred million, if you can show us twenty million, I'll let you marry Sandy right away. Scram!"
  • "Yes," Sebastian said as he turned to leave the Evans Residence. Standing outside of the house, he felt his chest stifling. The last time he was aggrieved by such treatment was ages ago. He scanned the area, and there was no taxi to be seen, so he took his phone to call a taxi to take the contract from the company.
  • Dustin strode out of the manor with a smug smile and burst out laughing when he saw Sebastian's phone. "Hey, bro. Are you calling a taxi driver because there aren't any in the area? Do you need a ride?"
  • "No," Sebastian replied coldly.
  • "Hey loser, what will you use against me when you don't even have a car?" Dustin walked to his BMW 7 Series Sedan and patted the premium car.
