Chapter 33 Waiting
- The person who called me was indeed my aunt, Cassidy. We were not close. She and I mostly stayed out of each other's lives, and I had not seen her once since Mom's mental illness.
- This was the first time I heard from her in ages, and it was to tell me that my mother had passed away.
- What awaited me when I rushed to the funeral home was a small urn, inside of which was Mom's cremains. I stood there motionlessly, looking at the urn for a long time. For the life of me, I could not reconcile with the fact that I had lost her; that my mother, who was still living and breathing just before I left, was now inside an urn.
