Chapter 5

  • I walked down the hallway slowly as his words kept repeating in my head, I would laugh it out and then shake my head to push it off, but anytime I did the light kiss that he had planted on my lips in the car would flash through my mind.
  • The words he had said to me in the car ‘Don’t you dare tell Hinn Carlos that you love him’
  • I leaned on the staircase repeatedly shaking my head, my mind was clouded, the words Hinn Carlos told me, the words Kate told me and the words Robin told me all mixed. I rub my hand through my eyes.
  • “Is there something wrong?” I heard Mrs Jane’s voice and quickly looked up, she was staring down at me and my heart skipped a bit, had Robin told them what he wanted to tell them. “Are you okay?” She held my shoulders and examined my face.
  • “Yes,” I said sharply like I was awoken from a daydream.
  • “Your father will be fine, so don’t worry.” Mrs Jane said tenderly and a smile spread through my face, she might think I was still thinking of my father.
  • “I know, thank you very much for staying here with us.” She had been a good help to my mother and I can’t tell if she had the time to sleep at all.
  • She smiled. “It is nothing.” I looked down at her dress, it was different from what she had worn yesterday and I noticed she had only come here with her handbag and there was no shop for an outfit around here, plus she had not left the hospital, so how did she…
  • “Robin is a very thoughtful boy, he brought the dress for me." She said like she knows the questions running through my mind.
  • Thoughtful boy, my butt! I said in my head as I looked away from Miss Jane, I didn’t want her to see the hateful expression I have on my face for her son.
  • “He was also worried about your father.” I turn to look at Mrs Jane immediately. Was Robin seriously worried about my father or was he here just to annoy me? I wish he didn’t come here and I hope he goes away.
  • “He also asked your parents to let us take you back to the mansion today.” My eyes dilated, didn’t Robin go to tell them about her and Hinn Carlos, didn’t Robin want her to leave their mansion by all means, what tricks were Robin playing this time?
  • “I have to stay a bit with my parents, my mother and father need me,” I told Mrs Jane softly as we walked back to the room my father was in.
  • “Robin told them that your school had announced the winners of the audition and you are one of the many picked.” I was surprised as today was a weekend and Kate had not mentioned that to me. “He told them the practice would commence from Monday and everyone has to be present for it.”
  • WHY THE F*CK WAS ROBIN TRYING TO MAKE ME LEAVE MY FATHER’S SIDE AT THIS MOMENT! I screamed in my head.
  • “Your parents accepted that already.” Mrs Jane told me. “I know you want to stay here with your father, but he has your mother and says he would be alright, you heard the doctors report right?” Mrs Jane touched my shoulder. “I will be leaving soon,” She looked down at her wristwatch.
  • “Robin came with his car, I have a meeting at noon so I will leave first and you would have to come back with Robin, okay.”
  • My head has a lot of questions in it that I fall to grasp all that Mrs Jane was saying, but I heard her final words, she was leaving and I will have to take a long ride back home with Robin, in his car and there would be silence and coldness in the car all through the journey, or maybe he might drop me off on the road on the way and I have to come home alone.
  • We got to the door and I stepped in with Mrs Jane, I looked around the room but Robin wasn’t in there. “Ivana.” My mother called out and I looked up at her.
  • “Yes, mom.” I walked over to where she was and sat next to her, holding her hands, there was colour on her face again and it wasn’t pale as it was last night, my father was fast asleep, he needed to rest I guess.
  • “I will be on my way now, Rose.” Mrs Jane told my mother and I turned my eyes to her. She was also looking tired, but still had a meeting to attend at work. She was hardworking and nice, and she was a good person.
  • “Oh.” My mother got up and embraced her friend. “Thank you very much, Jane, I don’t know what I would have done without your help.” She looked at her face with adoration. I wish I knew early that this lady was my mother’s friend. I would have wanted to meet her and get to know her better when I was a kid, but all the same, I know her now.
  • “It is okay Rose, just take good care of yourself, I will check on you often.” She glanced over to my father who was asleep. “I am glad he made it alive.” She pats my mother’s hand with a smile on her lips. “I hope you don’t be a crybaby anymore and take good care of yourself.
  • My mother chuckled. “That should be my line, you were a crybaby in the past, I guess you are now strong and I hope you continue this way and be healthy.” I looked at Mrs Jane, anyone who sees her wouldn’t know she had had any reason to cry in the past, but now I heard my mother say that and Mrs Jane didn’t argue about it, that means It was true.
  • What must have made Mrs Jane cry in the past? Was it Robin? Was it her husband? Now that reminds me, she was divorced, it could be… I shook my head not wanting my imaginations to run wild.
  • “Go safely, my daughter will be coming with your son, is that right?” Mrs Jane nod and I waved her goodbye, after that my mother walked her to the door and returned inside,
  • “Mom, I would like to stay with you for a while.” I held my mother’s hand. “I want to stay with you and dad for a while.”
  • “No Ivana, you hate staying at the hospital and your dad will have to be here for a week before he is discharged, whereas you have school to attend, so you should go back today.”
  • “Mom, tomorrow is Sunday, I can stay here until then…”
  • “I know you are worried about your dad, he will be fine.” My mother cuts me off. “You should go back today, it is a long drive to the city and you should have enough rest on Sunday.” She touched my cheek lovingly. “I am so happy when I heard you made it through the audition, you will be a star soon.”
  • I smile, my mother was so adorable when she says it like this, but she didn’t know there is a lot of amazing student in that school, people I don’t think I can beat in the show, I heard that it was only three people that made it past the main performance last time and was crowned stars, also only one of them is now among the BHDS group and the other two were just news.
  • “I hope so mom.” I smiled and then turned to my sleeping father. “I will have to wait for him to wake up before I leave, hope that will be okay?”
  • “Yes, sure.” She responded.
  • I excused myself and went in search of Kate and Hinn Carlos. I need to know if Kate knew about the audition result, also if she made it through, I figured out that Hinn must make it through since was good at what he does.
  • Just as I got out of the hospital, I saw Robin waving his mother goodbye, she peeked at him and drove off, before turning around with a smile on his lips, his eyes met mine and my anger overshadowed me, now I remembered I have questions for him.
  • I took each step closer to him, my lips pressed together, my jaw clenched and my palm balled up in a fist. This devil dares to play his tricks on me yet again.
  • While I stepped close to him, he tilted his head while giving me a once-over, then he touched his chin and scoffed like an asshole who had evil thoughts in his head.
  • “Let me guess…” He spoke up before I could say a word. “The reason you are here and glaring at me this way with your hands balled in a fist as if you can hit me when you know you won’t dare is because I told your parents I was taking you back to my mansion when I want you out, isn’t that right?”
  • I stopped in my tracks when he explained fully well what questions I had in mind to ask him. “Yes and I want an answer, what games are you playing this time?” I shouted.
  • He walked close to me with a smile on his lips. “I told you, princess,” He raised his hands and touched my cheek as he caressed it, his penetrating eyes fixed on my eyes. “Not to dare tell Hinn Carlos you love him, but you went ahead and did what I told you not to, and the worst of it all is…”
  • His lips curled up and his eyes darkened. “You want him to stay here with you while you both play romance in a hospital and this town.” He raised my chin forcefully with his hands and looked into my eyes. “I won’t allow that, I want you back to the mansion where I can keep a close eye on you.”
  • My brows furrowed and my heart skipped a beat, Robin had heard when Hinn Carlos volunteered to stay here with me while my father recovered and now he was saying he would keep an eye on me. What the heck!
  • Robin leaned close to my ears and whispered the words that only made me stiff and froze my heart. He leaned back but while doing so, his lips brushed against mine and a smile escaped his lips, he left my chin and walked away whistling to himself.
  • I just couldn’t move, the touch of his lips that were on mine yet again clouded my mind and the words he said in my ears just kept on resounding as silence filled the air where I stood, only the words he had just said arrogantly, yet sweetly, played on in my head.
  • You belong to me and no one else!
