Chapter 2 What Fantastic Service

  • “Why did she reject you? Has she grown weary of you?”
  • Situ Han retorted with a cold hard stare. “What makes you think it was her who had grown weary? Perhaps it was me who has grown sick of her?”
  • “That would probably be the last thing to happen.” Sheng Tiancheng shrugged. “Unless they found another species on Mars who is just like you, as faithful as a dog. It is simply inconceivable you would turn and wag your tail at someone else other than her.”
  • “Even you wouldn't believe I'd do such a thing,” Situ Han sighed, “That's why she was so damn sure I'd never leave her.”
  • “Never leave her?”
  • Situ Han got himself a second drink. “The Royal Ballet invited her over to work in England. She only told me when she was about to leave on a plane. How could she do that to me? Make me wait for another five years?”
  • Situ Han lifted his head and turned to Sheng Tiancheng with his sharp, intense gaze. Sheng Tiancheng could see the pain and sorrow in his eyes. Situ Han and Qiao Yunqian were childhood sweethearts, which forged into a serious relationship just about a year ago. Sheng Tiancheng saw how painstakingly Situ Han had planned for this proposal. In return for all his efforts was the heart wrenching news of her departure.
  • “Let's stop talking about it. Come and drink with me instead.” SItu Han flicked his fingers at the bartender, signaling him to take out his bottle of vintage wine that had been stored in the pub's cellar for some time. “It's been a while since we both sat down to have a good drink. Let's drink to our heart's content.”
  • Situ Han lifted his glass and cleared everything in one shot.
  • “But shouldn't there be something to go with such a good wine?” Sheng Tiancheng gave him a nudge. “Look at the lady over there, isn't she gorgeous? What do you think?”
  • Situ Han turned and looked toward the direction which Sheng Tiancheng pointed. The lady on the floor had been carried up by a man and helped to the sofa. The man was hugging her in his arms with a wicked lecherous grin on his face. “I would not touch any other woman except Yunqian.” Situ Han frowned.
  • “Qiao Yunqian will be away for five years. Do you think you can stay celibate for five years? Even if you can stand it, do you think 'it' would not have a reaction?” Sheng Tiancheng stared obliquely in the direction of Situ Han's lower body.
  • Situ Han was just about to open his mouth when he was interrupted by a series of loud slapping sounds. As they turned to the direction where the sound came from, Chu Meng had stood up wobbly from the sofa, slapping and punching hysterically at the lecher who had earlier lifted her from the floor. “You old bastard! How dare you to take advantage of me! See how I'll skin you alive!”
  • Sheng Tiancheng burst out in laughter. “I thought she was meek and soft like a lamb. Never thought she would turn out to be the mother tigress! Look at her!”
  • Situ Han was hardly amused. He looked away and swirled his stool to face the bar.
  • Sheng Tiancheng was trying to cheer him up with what he thought was pretty funny, but the wet blanket response from Situ Han had dampened his mood as well. He watched with gloom as the wobbly Chu Meng rocked back and forth, swaying left to right as she tried to find her bearings. Just then, his eyes lit up as he thought of an idea.
  • With barely a few glasses of wine, Situ Han was dead drunk. Sheng Tiancheng carried him laboriously into a VIP room.
  • He then went to look for Chu Meng, who was leaning at a corner rubbing her forehead, trying to get sober. Sheng Tiancheng approached her and beamed, “Madam, you may know that we are giving away a full suite of VIP services to a lucky winner each night, and I'm so happy to let you know we've picked you as our lucky winner tonight. Congratulations!”
  • Chu Meng had regained some of her consciousness. She had intended to sit out for a while before she returned to her friends who were in the VIP room. She gaped in surprise when she heard what Sheng Tiancheng had just said. “What? I'm the lucky winner? Oh...this is the first time I've ever won anything in my entire life. No. I mean, thank you. But I don't think I'll need it; my friends are still in room 118 and I'm about to join them now.”
  • “But look at you. I think you should take a rest in one of our rooms before you head back to room 118 and join your friends. I'm sure you'll feel much refreshed after that.”
  • It dawned on Chu Meng that she might have caused a scene earlier when she had been drunk, as she looked at her messy hair and rumpled dress. It was indeed unsightly to appear in front of her colleagues with such a look. Those b*tches might even use this as an excuse to spread malicious rumors again.
  • “It seems like a good idea. So, can you help me to inform my colleagues?”
  • Sheng Tiancheng nodded unctuously and passed her the access card to the VIP room. “I wish you a pleasant evening, Madam.”
  • “Thank you.” Chu Meng was impressed. What fantastic service! What she had failed to notice was the deceptive twinkle in Sheng Tiancheng's eyes.
  • Chu Meng opened the door with her access card, but the lights did not seem to work. The room remained pitch-dark no matter which switch she pressed. But since this was just some free service that she had won by luck, she could not complain.
  • She walked into the room using her hands to guide her forward. When she finally found the bed, she kicked away her shoes and slumped to the bed, expecting the soft and gentle mattress to embrace her body. Contrary to her expectations, what embraced her was something that was warm and rigid. What was that?
  • She ran over it with her hand, starting from the top to the bottom. She felt like she was touching one's forehead, followed by his chest, then came two small protruding objects. It scared the wits out of her and made her spring up from the bed. Oh my god! There's a man lying on the bed.
  • The drunkenness had completely disappeared by her shocking discovery. She felt breathless, her heart pounding like wild. This pub really meant what they said when they told her she had won a full suite of VIP service, including a male prostitute.
