Chapter 11 No Need To Explain

  • The man sitting before her now was polite, looking nothing like the man who had choked her just now.
  • The more she thought about it, the more she felt this man was dangerous, mentally tagging him as someone to avoid at all costs.
  • Situ Han was quite cooperative as he answered all of Chu Meng's questions. As she ran out of questions, she said, “Are you free tomorrow? We need to take some photos of you.”
  • Situ Han immediately refused, “I only agreed to an interview, not to a photoshoot.”
  • Chu Meng patiently replied, “Taking your photo is a part of the interview. Since you already agreed to the interview, it doesn't make sense to not get your photo taken.”
  • “This is my limit.” Situ Han was unmoved as he bent his head and began to look through his documents. His voice was dismissive as he said, “If there's nothing else, you may go home and pack your luggage. I'll send someone to pick you up later.”
  • “Fine, I understand.” Chu Meng pretended to be busy packing up her things as she sneakily turned on the camera of her phone. As she walked out of the office, she quickly took a photo of him busy at work before he could notice.
  • When Chu Meng stepped out of the Cheng Hao Group Building, two bodyguards followed behind her.
  • This was Situ Han's way of preventing her from running away.
  • Worried they would cause unnecessary trouble if she went back to her office with them in tow, she called to take leave and went back home to pack her luggage.
  • At eight o'clock at night, Chu Meng received a call from an unknown number. Answering the call, the familiar voice of Situ Han came through, “Get down here, you have five minutes.”
  • Chu Meng was speechless. This man really thought he was a king - if he gave a command, he expected others to immediately carry them out, no questions asked. What an annoying and hateful man!
  • Getting into the car, she saw that Situ Han was also sitting inside. He was busily flipping through some documents. From when she got in the car to when the car started up and left, he did not even raise his head.
  • Deciding to ignore him, she pressed herself against the other side of the car, trying to put as much distance between them as possible.
  • By the time Situ Han was done with his documents, he found that Chu Meng had curled herself up in the corner, fast asleep. She did not seem to be sleeping very well as her brows were furrowed. Her body slowly tilted toward him. Right before she tipped over, she suddenly righted herself. Situ Han thought she had woken up until he took a good look at her and saw that her eyes were still tightly shut.
  • She seemed to be feeling cold as her arms were wrapped around herself, her shoulders hunched.
  • Situ Han's eyes glinted. In the end, he turned up the temperature of the air conditioner and dimmed the lights in the car. Deciding to take a break, he leaned back against the seats. An unknown amount of time passed before he suddenly felt a heavy weight press on his shoulder. A puff of warm air brushed against his ear.
  • Situ Han's eyes snapped open and his cold gaze landed on the culprit. In her sleep, Chu Meng had unconsciously leaned against his shoulder. Their close distance enabled Situ Han to see her long eyelashes clearly. Unbidden, memories of that night came to the front of his mind. Disgust welled in him and he shoved her away roughly, not bothering if he had hurt her or not.
  • Chu Meng's head smacked against the seats hard. Despite their softness, it still hurt and the pain woke her up. Rubbing her head as she glanced around blearily, she realized Situ Han was looking at her with a tight look on his face. Disdain burned in his gaze. “Don't lean on me again!”
  • Chu Meng immediately understood. She had not accidentally slammed against the seats herself - he had shoved her. What a mean man! She rolled her eyes, “You think I want to lean on you? I was sleeping and couldn't control myself, alright?”
  • Situ Han shot her a dark look, “Just like you couldn't control yourself that night? I'm beginning to question your character.”
  • “You!” Chu Meng turned her head away in anger, “A real woman does not argue with men! I don't have to explain myself!”
  • “Explaining is to cover up your guilt!”
  • Endure it, endure it!
  • The car weaved through a neighborhood of villas on the outskirts of town before finally stopping in front of a luxurious lakeside villa.
  • The moment she stepped inside; Chu Meng was awestruck.
  • The living room and second floor had modernistic decorations made of black tempered glass. The floors and stairs were made of black marble with beautiful waves curling through them. Black leather couch, black marble coffee table; the entire atmosphere screamed of understated luxury and sophistication.
  • It fit the man's cold personality.
  • Calling over a servant, he said, “This is Ms. Wu, talk to her if you need anything.”
  • Ms. Wu looked to be in her fifties. Her face had a friendly smile as she spoke, “Ms. Chu, your room is on the second floor. Please follow me.”
  • The bodyguards had taken her luggage to the second floor's easternmost room. The room was spacious, with large French windows. The room had all the necessary facilities, with an attached bathroom. The walls were a pale cream in color and the clearly expensive furniture was made of some kind of dark wood. Made of pink fabric, the small couch and huge white closet fit in with the pale theme of the room. Even the bedding was pale in color.
  • Who would have known that Situ Han would have such a feminine room in his house?
