Chapter 13 Our Life Together Begins

  • Even as she sat down in Wang's car, Chu Meng had still not managed to come up with a good plan. However, know thy enemy. With some elaborate maneuvering on her part, she managed to find out some things about Situ Han from Wang.
  • The Situ family was the biggest family in the city. Situ Han's grandfather, Old Master Situ, had founded the massive empire that was Situ Group, involving the company in all sorts of businesses such as real estate, hotels, department stores and more. All over the world, there were hundreds of branches and subsidiaries of the main company.
  • Old Master Situ had a son who had given him two grandsons and a granddaughter. He also had a daughter who had given him another grandchild. Of all his grandchildren, the one he had the highest regard for was his eldest grandson, Situ Han.
  • Unfortunately, despite his wishes, Situ Han had not actually taken over the Situ family business. Instead, he had founded his own Cheng Hao Group. Situ Han had built his empire with his own hands, not relying on the Situ family's connections. Even though he was not entirely happy with his grandson for leaving the family business, Old Master Situ was still proud of him.
  • Much like Old Master Situ, Old Madam Situ's favorite grandchild was also Situ Han. She was constantly nagging him to find a wife, settle down, and have kids. Unfortunately, Situ Han himself was in no hurry, which was why he had bought himself a villa and moved out of the old mansion; he had gotten tired of their nagging. However, every first and fifteenth of the lunar calendar, he would go back and visit them.
  • Chu Meng thought that she could possibly start with Old Master and Old Madam Situ.
  • As she reached the villa, Situ Han's car also came to a stop in the garage.
  • As the front door opened, Situ Han appeared in the doorway with a tight look on his face. Behind him was another man. The man had a suit jacket slung across his shoulders as he came swaggering in. His almond-shaped eyes lit up, “Hey, if it isn't my baby, what are you doing here?”
  • Chu Meng cradled her forehead in annoyance. With that blond hair and lighthearted tone of voice, there could be no other person than Situ Han's brother, Situ Yun!
  • Chu Meng's tone was serious as she replied, “Young Master Yun, you can call me Chu Meng or Ms. Chu.”
  • Situ Yun laughed uproariously, “Don't be such a stranger! I'll call you Chu Chu and you can call me Yun Yun!”
  • “This is only the second time we've met, and it would be better if we don't address each other so familiarly. I think I should still call you Situ Yun.” Chu Meng's voice was cold. The first time they had met, he seemed like a normal guy. It was only now that she realized he seemed pretty silly.
  • “Brother, looks like you've been holding out on me. No wonder you didn't want me to stay over.” Situ Yun narrowed his eyes at Situ Han.
  • Situ Han's face darkened even more. His brother had skin thicker than a wall; even if he had not agreed, his brother would still insist on coming.
  • “From now on, I'll be living here too. The three of us can start living together. Doesn't that make you happy, Chu Chu?” Situ Yun chattered away as he caressed Chu Meng's head. He completely ignored Situ Han's stormy face.
  • Happy? As if! Chu Meng took two steps backwards, distancing herself from the easy-going man.
  • Situ Han's voice was frosty as he spoke, “If anybody hears about Chu Meng living here, I'll feed you to the sharks!”
  • “Brother, I'm an outstanding young man full of moral integrity, you have to believe in my character!” Situ Yun had a jovial look on his face as he patted Chu Meng's shoulder, “Besides, with the close relationship I share with Chu Chu, I won't make her life harder.”
  • Chu Meng batted away his hand, “We're not that close, stop speaking nonsense!”
  • “Alright, I'll bring my luggage up first. I'll be seeing you, Chu Chu.” Situ Yun cheerfully headed upstairs with his bags.
  • Staring at him, Chu Meng asked worriedly, “Mr. Situ, is your brother always like that?” Easy-going to the point where it drives people crazy, I mean.
  • Situ Han gave an uncomfortable cough. After all, what happens in the family, stays in the family.
  • Soon it was time for dinner and the three of them sat at the table.
  • The lavish dinner on the dining table was sending out a mouth-watering aroma.
  • Situ Yun was busy playing the perfect host, “Chu Chu, the chef Brother hired was originally from a five-star hotel. Come, you have to try this chicken soup.”
  • Glancing at Situ Han, who had not moved a single muscle, Chu Meng gave an embarrassed laugh. Without him making the first move, as a guest, she was reluctant to start eating. Seeing that she was not moving, Situ Yun personally ladled some chicken soup and handed it to Chu Meng.
  • “Quickly, drink it,” Situ Yun urged, his eyes hopeful.
  • Chu Meng took a small sip. It was indeed delicious, “It's really good.”
  • Situ Yun gave a brilliant smile as he handed her a chicken leg, paper towel wrapped around the bone at the bottom. Chu Meng spoke her thanks as she accepted the leg. Biting down on it, her eyes sparkled, “This is delicious.”
  • Next, Situ Yun placed a mutton chop on her plate, “Try this, this is lamb imported all the way from Australia and grilled to perfection. I've heard it's so young that the bones are still crunchy!”
  • As she finished chewing on the bone, Chu Meng let out a satisfied sigh, “That was absolutely amazing.”
  • Situ Yun's eyes crinkled in a wide smile.
