Chapter 31

• Kenneth Barrett arrived that afternoon, just as Jaxon had mentioned. He then proceeded to unexpectedly decide that we would have lunch outside the manor, in a garden shaded by trees.
• I was still uncomfortable sharing the same space with Kenneth, especially after our argument, which we had not resolved verbally.
• "Emma, how was your first week back at school?" Kenneth inquired, much to my puzzlement, which made me tense momentarily.
