Chapter 7 Outburst

  • I gazed up at her and recognized her immediately. She was a woman in a red dress with blonde hair. Clara, Silvio's mistress, was someone I had heard about before arriving here. Eve had warned me to steer clear of her. I could tell she was furious as she glared at me with angry eyes.
  • “Who do you think you are? Just a maid, that’s all you are,” she snapped, and as I attempted to rise, she shoved me back down.
  • “How dare you sleep with my man? Who gave you the right? How far do you think you can go against me?” she hissed, her breath coming in heavy bursts.
  • For years, it was common knowledge that she was the only one Silvio was seeing; their affairs were discreet and kept from the public eye, but I was aware because I had studied Silvio's lifestyle before coming here.
  • Finally, I stood up and faced her, with workers all around us, watching the scene unfold.
  • “You have no right to hit me,” I growled, and she laughed as she stepped closer.
  • “What did you say?” she mocked, trying to intimidate me, but I wasn’t scared of her one but, I knew her type of person and it didn’t intimate me.
  • “Just because you are his one-night stand doesn’t mean you matter. Watch your tone; you’re just a maid and nothing more, so know your place,” she warned me. Just as I was about to respond, I heard a voice.
  • “What’s happening here?” Sam, Silvio's right-hand man, stepped forward. The workers observing us took this as their signal to leave; it seemed no one wanted to get involved.
  • “I asked, what’s happening here?” he repeated, and Clara turned to face him.
  • “Mind your words; I was just correcting this maid,” Clara replied, and I sensed her fear in the way she spoke.
  • Sam reached out and held my chin, the pain from Clara's earlier blow still fresh.
  • “It looks like you were attacking her. What do you think the boss will do when he hears about this?” Sam snapped at Clara, who met his gaze defiantly.
  • “Go ahead and tell him. I’ll just inform Dad about what you’ve been up to,” she shot back, and I stared in disbelief at the two of them, realizing they were siblings with matching blond hair.
  • “Don’t involve Dad in this, Clara. You can’t just come in here and act as if you’re in charge; you should know better,” Sam said, gritting his teeth to suppress his anger.
  • “You’re supposed to help me! You let her walk into his room and sleep with him while you stood there like a useless dog. He belongs to me, and I won’t share him,” she retorted, glaring at Sam.
  • “Lower your voice. She didn’t sleep with him, and stop attacking her, or you’ll face the consequences,” he warned, grabbing my hands and pulling me away.
  • I had no idea where he was taking me until we arrived at a room, I assumed was his.
  • I was too weak to say a word when he sat me down, and went along to get a first aid kit.
  • “I’m sorry for my sister’s behavior,” he apologized and I continued looking ahead.
  • “It seems you two aren't on good terms”, I remarked while gazing into his eyes as he wiped the blood from my lips with a Vin toon wool.
  • "We're not. Clara is... wild, and I'm not," he replied.
  • "I understand," I said.
  • "I should caution you; she won't give up. She's infatuated with him, even if he ignores her. Our family is deeply involved in the mafia, and Clara believes she has the right to marry him. So, she'll keep pursuing you; you need to be cautious," he warned, and I nodded, fully aware of the situation.
  • "I should be going now. Thank you for defending me," I said as I stood up, preparing to leave.
  • He grasped my hand as he rose and looked at me. I could tell he had something to say.
  • "Do you love him?" he inquired, and I stared at him in confusion, love.
  • A big word, I was only trying to get him killed but, I was enjoying teasing him, and making him want me. It felt like a game to me, a game where I play and get to win, big I knew Silvio was like a wolf, but I never wanted to end up being his prey, it would end badly if I failed.
  • "What do you mean?" I asked, watching him closely.
  • "You know exactly what I mean," he replied, and I turned my gaze away. I couldn't respond; I had come here for revenge, and I couldn't afford to develop feelings for anyone.
  • “I should go,” I responded but I tried to get him to levee me alone he wouldn’t move.
  • “I’m sorry, I have always wanted to do this,” he said as I looked at him confused and he kissed me, I froze as I fought against him but he was too strong and I took the one option left as I hit his groin.
  • I knew that it wasn’t a right option, but I didn’t like it when people tried to force themselves on me, Sam was Silvio right hand man, and I knew this would cost me but I would be let him, get away with trying to get to me.
  • “I respected you big how dare you cross that line with me,” I yelled out s I ran out of the room.
  • As I ran out of the room, someone caught my eyes, it wasn’t just someone but it was a couple, she held his hand as she laughed out something he had said and he smiled at her.
  • I could feel myself shake, as I looked at them and I shook from anger.
  • It was Max Castillo, and my sister, Vespera.
