• Ruby POV:
• I wasn't sure how much time had passed since we left the base. This was my first time flying in a helicopter, but my mind was too crammed with thoughts to focus on the experience. My gaze remained glued outside at the blue sky and white clouds.
• Natalie's words had been replaying in my mind since we'd left. She had known what would happen to me, and even if she hadn't known everything about who or what I was, she knew enough that we could've gotten in front of this mess earlier. I didn't buy her crap about The Goddess not allowing her to tell. She just told me now with no apparent objections from The Goddess.
