- We went falling through the window together, its revolting odor burning my eyes as we fell. I grabbed the creature's face as we fell and forced all the heat inside my body into my arms. I turned us so the vamp was on the bottom to take the brunt of the fall, but even so, the impact rattled me.
- I rolled away from the hissing and shrieking creature, trying to ignore the sharp pains in my back and ankle.
