After Rafael had left to attend a crucial meeting at the Pathfinders Guild, Hazel requested I come to the family estate once again. The tension between us had shifted somewhat since Hazel’s extravagant birthday gala. Her perspective of me had softened, but not enough to consider me a suitable fiancée for Rafael.
She weighed her options carefully. She realized force or intimidation wouldn’t work with me especially after my bold defiance of her influence at the gala. Coercion was out of the question.
Instead, she resolved to appeal to my emotions and reason, hoping to convince me to step away voluntarily from the engagement.
