Chapter 149
- After downing a bottle of water and walking a few slow laps through the executive lounge, I was finally starting to feel sober again. Reed, ever the loyal right-hand man, trailed behind me as we headed for the Sinclair Group’s private legacy hall a solemn place used for reflection and those moments we pretended were about the company’s founders but were really about ourselves.
- "Sir," Reed said cautiously as we stepped into the marble atrium, "you don’t really intend to push Lady Sinclair into an engagement, do you?"
- I shot him a sideways glance. "Do you really think I’d steal a woman from my own brother?" I paused, my voice dropping. "Even if the thought crossed my mind… Mother would never allow it. She and Melanie were practically sisters. There’s no way she’d agree to something like that."
