Chapter 8

  • Lydia POV:
  • As soon as I opened the car door, I saw something disgusting.
  • There was a wooden sign on the passenger seat with words carved into it.
  • “Reserved for Lilia.”
  • It didn’t look like it came from a factory, but rather like Alessandro had personally carved each letter, with his handwriting.
  • Alessandro, looking at me in shock, opened the back door. “Sorry, my passenger seat is only for my wife, Miss Lydia, you can sit in the back!”
  • I felt deeply humiliated, just because I had once asked Alessandro for a similar gift, but he never agreed.
  • Despite the embarrassment, I wasn’t going to let Alessandro off the hook. I joked, “Nice wooden sign, recommend me a manufacturer, I’ll get one carved for the puppy I’ll buy in the future.”
  • Alessandro’s face darkened instantly.
  • I just sat in the car, fastened my seatbelt.
  • With Marcio there, I wasn’t afraid that Alessandro would leave me alone in Dark Forest.
  • Even though I didn’t understand why he volunteered to take me there, I didn’t see why I shouldn’t agree with a ready-made laborer.
  • The car still smelled faintly of men’s cologne, and I quickly fell asleep until Alessandro answered a call.
  • Lilia’s sweet voice came through the phone, “Alex, I feel terrible, can you come home and be with me? I feel like I can’t breathe.”
  • “I’ll come back right away!” Alessandro’s expression visibly tensed. “You find a family doctor first, I’ll come see you immediately.”
  • With that, he slowed down the car.
  • “You’re not thinking of leaving me here, are you?” I nervously sat up.
  • Alessandro coldly said, “This is my car, I’ll take whoever I want! We’re very close to Dark Forest, you can walk there yourself!”
  • “No way!” I looked at the foggy weather outside, leaned out and tried to grab the steering wheel from Alessandro. “You’re not going to make me walk in the rain! Either you take me to my destination, or you get out of the car!”
  • “Let go of me! Are you out of your damn mind?” Alessandro held the steering wheel with one hand and tried to push me away with the other.
  • The car started swaying from side to side, almost hitting the roadside barrier.
  • “Fuck! Lydia, let go!”
  • “You’re not leaving me on the road!” I refused to let go.
  • Alessandro had to compromise, “Fuck! You bitch, I’ll just get out of the car! Crazy woman!”
  • Only then did I let go, and as soon as Alessandro got out of the car, I jumped into the driver’s seat.
  • In prison, I once learned how to drive from a senior. Alessandro’s car was indeed excellent, and I drifted the car in a U-turn.
  • “Damn, do you even have a driver’s license?” Alessandro cursed from the back seat.
  • But I had already flipped him off and left. This was Alessandro’s favorite car, and after taking it, I naturally had to prepare a surprise for him.
  • However, Alessandro didn’t have time to mourn for his beloved car now, as it started to rain.
  • It would take a long time to get a taxi in this remote place. Thinking of someone like Alessandro becoming a drenched rat, I couldn’t help but laugh.
  • Twenty minutes later, I arrived at Dark Forest.
  • Marcio was already waiting for me at the entrance with his men, and he kissed the back of my hand as soon as he saw me.
  • While in the car, I had already agreed to become the Alpha of Dark Forest, so he introduced my identity to the others in the back.
  • “Lydia, the new Alpha of our Dark Forest pack.”
  • New? It seemed that there were quite a few Alphas in the Dark Forest pack before me.
  • Were those people also brought by Marcio?
  • The werewolves around Marcio were very dissatisfied, chattering and discussing me.
  • “A woman? And she’s supposed to be our Alpha? Look at her arms, I could break her hand without even trying!”
  • “I think Marcio brought this silly girl here on purpose to flirt with her. This delicate woman probably hasn’t even killed anyone!”
  • “If she wants to be our Alpha, she needs to make a contribution to the pack! Otherwise, we won’t accept her!”
  • I had expected this kind of scene, so I stepped forward and said, “I just got out of Sunshine Prison, and I know you all are not happy with me, so feel free to make a request.”
  • “But in exchange for helping Dark Forest grow, I also need something in return. I want the artifact left by Carmel, the former Alpha of Dark Forest. How about it?”
  • “Okay!”
  • The loudest werewolf stepped forward and said, “We can give you the artifact, but you must fulfill our request first. We want you to marry Ashley, the Alpha of the Blood Drinkers pack, as the Alpha of Dark Forest. As long as you agree, anything is possible!”
  • “Lydia…” Marcio looked at me worriedly. “If you don’t want to, we won’t force you.”
  • But I shook my head with a smile. “Who said I don’t want to?”
  • “It’s just marrying someone, it’s no big deal.”
  • Once I killed Ashley, I would regain my freedom.
  • As for Marcio, my destined partner, he couldn’t escape from the palm of my hand!
